though we are ghosts
i am sometimes a nighttime poet, existing in the ivory bone-structure of the moon, living among the stars. they burn brightly from my vantage point on Earth, but i know many of them have been dead thousands of years. they are alive for me, so that i may remember how brightly they shone in the summer of my childhood, whispering, "though we are ghosts, we exist still here. we exist still for you." and their light thrums in my veins, beating between blood cells, cradling my heart. we are made of stardust, but some days, i wonder if we're made of starlight, too.
