Outsource Show: Paintings by non-painter artists
“Outsource Show” is an interesting project curated by Alexander Tarrant, featuring “paintings by non-painter artists”. The process started with the following message that was sent to 17 artists:
“You come up with an idea for a painting, provide instructions and reference material, and I will have someone skillfully paint it for you. Congratulations! You are now a fine art gallery artist.”
Once he received their ideas, he traveled to the Dafen Oil Painting Village in China, a place famous for forgeries and reproductions (and sometimes original artworks too) and hired some of the best local painters to do the work. These paintings are the result of that entire process. You can see the full project here.
