Shuichi had noticed that Kaede seemed pretty down, lately. Even if she surely tried to hide it, he knew her far too well by now, to be able to tell when she seemed off. But it was understandable; he knew she had a recital coming up... one that seemed like quite the big deal. She was going to be playing against other big name pianists. And while he’s sure she will definitely will, he can’t imagine the amount of pressure and expectations that have been forced on her. It was understandable she must feel so stressed out. Shuichi wanted to do something to help his dear friend... anything to cheer her up. That’s when he came up with the idea of: asking her to come to the music room tonight, and surprise her by playing a song he secretly had been practicing for a while, now.

It was pretty late right now, but he was sure it should be okay; some of the school doors were kept unlocked, and even if they did get caught, they weren’t doing anything bad, right? Though he had carefully scanned the halls and it thankfully did not seem like anyone was on security duty, anyway. As he currently sits at the piano bench, he had texted Kaede to please come meet him in the music room if she was still awake, and told her which specific doors to go through. He was sure she was still awake, otherwise he’d feel bad for possibly waking her.... but no matter what, he told himself: he was going to make sure she’ll feel better. She’s always there for him when he’s feeling stressed or down.... and he’s going to do the same for her. Silence fills the room as he waits for her, re-reading the sheet music in the meanwhile. He was sure she’d come... Eventually, he heard footsteps approaching the door, making him look towards it. “Oh...!”

Getting up, he makes his way towards the door, and cracks it open enough to poke his head out. “Kaede, over here...!” He says in a loud enough whisper, waving her down. Since it was pretty dark in the hallway, which might it made it harder to see. Then, he pulls the door further open for her to enter, greeting her with a smile as he closes the door behind them.  “Good evening, Kaede. Thank you for coming; I’m sorry for asking you to do so at this hour, but I’m very glad you did. I hope did not wake you...?”
