Varill was clearly obsessed in Myrwood but whenever brought out of that particular DEATH GOD tangent (which was rare) he seemed competent, honorable, and clever. Of course all these observations came from afar, because despite the unusually intimate situation in Tulloch even she wasn't going to chat up the men of the upper circle. She thought it was pretty cool that he was awarded Ravenwood, and Kauthryn handing her favor stirred the part of her that liked ~romance~.

An investigation was conducted by my department, in conjunction with the Silver Hand, into the nature and source of the substance known as lidirite. I had Sir Khas and Dame Kalvive travel to Windcombe to investigate, and here’s what they determined.
The mining operation appeared to be extensive, with plenty of the substance being mined and processed on site. It’s a crystal that must be broken down into powder to be of use. The foreman stated that the mine had been supporting the local lord (by name of Baven) for at least a century.
The foreman would not (or could not) name other customers, merely saying “wizards” or “merchants.” It’s possible he’s lying (no one would confess to dealing with the forsaken), or it’s also possible the forsaken got the lidirite through other means. Stolen cargo, perhaps?
The primary use of lidirite appears to be spell amplification. For example, creating a larger area of effect, or adding more power. That explains why the forsaken were using it in their Blight, I suppose--to make it more intensive and far reaching.
Some lidirite was purchased; Ebonloch will conduct research on the reagent to find out more about it and what it can do. I’ll distribute it among our wizards and see what they discover.
I place the matter back into the hands of the Silver Hand--and the Chief Investigator--for continued study. I’d be glad to speak further and in person, of course. I’m also pleased to be able to to assist the Silver Hand. I believe through cooperation, Lordaeron is stronger--and we’re all safer.
Finally, I’d like to commend Dame Kalvive and Sir Khas on their successful mission. They both conducted themselves with honor, and I’m proud to have them as part of Ebonloch.
Light save the Queen.
