I was going to go to McDonald's for lunch, and just drive through. And then I remembered this was my own damn road trip and I'm in no rush at all. So I Googled up a different place and drove 5 minutes off the highway to a little diner that was absolutely delightful. I took some time to do a little LARP planning, too. The menu here is kind of wild though.

from life. painted this on the road, by the side of a secondary highway. that up ahead is a little gas station and a closed diner. it was just after sundown. the sky stopped me. I got out and did sketches and a color wash painting to remember it all, took photos, sketched this out. made a palette to work from. it was that blue, like the ocean overhead. with the road at the sea floor... got home and finished it in better lighting. the original is gone, given to someone. prints are available at http://www.redbubble.com/people/resonanteye/collections/191444-landscapes Blue Highway.
