Vintage Eye CandyÂ
This massive gambrel roofed Greystone – the only one we’ve ever seen in Chicago, which is saying something – is the Joseph A. Thomlinson House on the 5300 block of South University Avenue.  Designed by architect Solon Beman, of Pullman fame, in mix of Classical and Dutch Colonial styles, the home features red granite porch columns, tile roofed bays, and (though you can’t see in this picture) massive limestone brackets running along the side walls at the base of roof.
