BIG MOOD

The tower was emptier than it had been in months; had been rebuilt, in many ways, to just become obsolete. Tony couldn’t quite let it go, though. Upstate was fine, it was great, really, but NYC was home and he missed the convenience of getting his favorite noodles dropped off by a delivery kid on a bike in the dead of night. He missed the streets, the sounds, the lights. The woods... kinda made his skin crawl.

Security was still secure, but Tony knew he had a tail and maybe he was getting lax (maybe he had too much going on to care enough) but he got the impression he knew exactly who had a tail on him and why. Steve Rogers was a lot of things, and their FB relationship status was complicated, but he was still a friend. So certain security parameters were relaxed in certain places, despite appearances to the contrary, and maybe Tony hadn’t made the whole ‘heartbeat detector’ thing in his air vents overly publicized, but then, of course he didn’t.

It was brunch time ...-ish. He’d been up all night, he was mostly not coated in engine oil, and yes, okay, he was feeling too maudlin and lonely to not call out the only excuse for company he had. If the sensors were right--and they always were--then the closest vent was... there.
