there is a very brief moment in which she believes she may have found peace, but no, he was not going to leave it at granting her permission (which she never needed, anyways, she had her license and the lake and it was public land). all she offers him in reply is a "hah," a laugh caught in a huff of breath. no, he was not standing up to leave, either. in fact, he was coming closer. her amusement was beginning to give way to annoyance with the increasingly closing distance.
the mightyena stays tight to her side as she sits on the rocky shore, keeping an attentive gaze on the stranger from the corner of his eye. licking his lips, he lays his body down between him and his trainer. rather than making any conversation, kendria focuses on setting up her fishing rod, stabilizing it between her thighs and knees as she tied on her hook.
once the knot has been fastened and his question has been asked, she gives him another sharp glance. it was clear, now, that he didn't like being ignored. "it's kennie." short and sweet, just like her name. however, before she can turn her attention back to her pole, she sees his scizor, his exasperation practically emanating from the pokemon. the sight gets a smile out of her, finally, grin cracking across her lips to release a laugh.
the canine next to her lifts his head when he is addressed, his tail thumping. his trainer looks down at him, then at the person beside them once more. her hands are busy attaching the rest of the gear to her line without looking, now, years of muscle memory picking up where her attention had left off.
"he is pretty tough. his name's polo. 've had him since he was a poochy." she hums, sacrificing a hand to reach down and rub the space behind his ear. "if i were you, kid, i'd be careful. he's not too big of a fan of folks in red." she leaves her warning at that, with no further explanation. the bite pokemon is evidently pleased with his introduction and he turns his full gaze towards kaneda, panting, tongue lolling.
