{{ “J” // J Huntington III. As I said before- what he lacked in real substance he filled with an irresistable air of confidence that made you forget anything truly negative. Sam and J clicked really fast- J brought excitement and something a bit normal and grounded in a very new life Sam was adjusting to, while Sam brought something for J to look forward to every day. Something to do, you could say.

J convinced Sam that they didn’t need labels for their relationship early on. That giving things a word would ‘seriously put a weight on the vibe of things, and things are just going so well, yknow? Who needs a word for us?’ 

But, as the summer went on and the air started to chill as fall closed in, Sam longed for a definite answer. To him, words did mean something- labels meant stability, which he desperately needed in his new life. So one day, he mustered up the courage to finally ask J to be his... boyfriend.

J Huntington III almost immedidately laughed it off, and sharply rejected him. 

“ Jesus, man- what the hell is with you? This is what always happens with people like you- you whine about how you need something concrete and think that’ll give you some storybook sense of contentment- but you don’t even realize that all of that is just bullshit. Guys like me- the ones who know that the minute you fuckin’ settle is the minute you start fuckin’ dying- we’re the only ones with half a fuckin’  sense of things, Sam. I’m living- I’ll live forever- but you’re already dying.”

{{ “First Summer” // A few key things happened that first summer in Windenburg, albeit maybe not that exciting. Saved up enough for a little tv ( a penguin!! ) although he barely watched it- but it made things feel a bit homier.

The agency contacted him again, as well, with a few small operations to take care of in Windenburg. Luckily, as he requested, they were mostly quick survelience missions he did either from the island itself or from places not too far from Windenburg. After that long hiatus, Sam was occasionally back to old business. Suit and tie, the occasional ‘business, but not business’ trip, takeout in safehouses. But he managed, and saved up enough to at least fix that damn kitchen up a little.

{{ Yo- there’s a gym a quick boat ride away on the shore and sim-Sam spent a bit of time there the first few days in windenburg. Mostly because of all the free amenities there. (Also, the boys. Those too.) 

{{ “Day 1″ // Dropped off on the windenburg island via a quiet but kind boat driver named Earl- he mentioned something about how he was happy someone finally bought the big plot of land on the upper edge of the island. Talked about how the last person to live there was a fisherman who came all the way from San Mayshuno. “ He was a successful CEO who thought he had everything he’d wanted..but he wasn’t happy. So one day he sold his penthouse, liquified his assets and bought a tiny fishing shack on the island off the coast of Windenburg. Came with a whole lot of land too, but he never did anything to it or built on it. He was always content just.. fishing, and relaxing on the beach, watching the waves.”
