He was too young to understanding the talking between his parents late at night as he had awoken because of them moving things. He was confused and something felt wrong to his young mind as he clung to the little blanket he had dragged with him out of bed to the kitchen where his parents spoke, not noticing the young kirin standing in the shadows trying to understand what was happening.
There was a lot of things he didnât get, but he understands his father apologizing many times to his mother as she gathered things from around the kitchen with ease. He worried, what was happening ? He finally stepped out of the shadows into the dimly lit room , quickly being noticed by his parents, his father picking him up with a smile but kirin could feel the man holding him shaking.
â What are you doing kirin ? Itâs late you, should be in bed. â
The words passed his fatherâs mouth so easily as kirin looked to his mother and looked back to his father, a scared look forming on the young childâs face, he couldnât understand what was happening but the air in the room was suffocating. He was just a child but even he could tell something was wrong, very wrong.Â
â Whatâs going on ? âÂ
Kirin asked and his mother suddenly took him from his father, she was shaking as well and it looked like she had been crying. Kirin froze at the sight and he was stuck in his motherâs arms now.
â Me and you have to go somewhere together okay ? Itâll be like an adventure together. Youâre father canât come right now but heâll be with us later okay ? â
Her words where that of lies but kirin didnât know, but he wasnât excited about this â adventure â his mother spoke of but he stilled nodded his head as he looked to his father, the man still had a smile on his face but something in him made him seem sad. He was sad. Kirin didnât know what to do, he is only a child after all.
His mother packed more things into a bag as his father dressed kirin in warm clothes since it was late and cold as kirin still tried to question what was happening but his father just told him the same thing his mother did, a lie to try to quell the childâs worries but it didnât work. Soon though his mother picked him up with the back she had as well wrapped around her shoulder, he clinged to her tightly but tiredly, he was still just a child and he was tired. His mother and father spoke once more, he didnât remember what was said but he remembers them leaving into the night without his father.
He remembers the sky that night, clear and full of stars as his mother carried him off on an â Adventure â to a land he knew nothing of, he remembers looking back to the place he called home, his father watching them leave, smiling when kirin looked at him and waving at him. Kirin frown and his eyes filled with worry as he looked to his mother who had her eyes trained forward, not even taking a moment to look back
â Why canât daddy come with us ? â
He questioned tiredly to his mother as silence fell around them, she didnât give an answer to the boy as she held him, her pace quickening a bit as they went. He soon fell asleep again as he counted the stars in the sky and fled with his mother.
