Put one of these words in my ask and Iâll write a headcanon about it for my character(s)
Lute has one primary ambition: to live up to her prodigy status. It is the driving point of her words, her actions, and her spells. If she failed in that, she wouldnât be nearly as mentally powerful as she currently is. Is it a self-righteous ambition? Possibly. Yet Lute wouldnât be the girl she is if it wasnât for her efforts.

Prequel to this University AU. It was fun and I wanted to write more of it. NSFW so itâs under here.
"Whatâs that? Cat got your tongue?"
Lyon showed him the t-shirt, making an obvious act of not trying to look at that sculpted torso.
âYou threw your t-shirt across the bar andâŚand it landed on my head,â he replied, meekly looking up at Ephraim over the frames of his glasses, âI thought you might want it back.â
Ephraim grins and takes the shirt off him, oblivious to the number of times Lyon has pressed it against his face just to get a whiff of sweat and something that is so Ephraim.
âWhy the blush Lyon? You saw me like this at the beach last summer break.â
Last summer break, Ephraim had never kept âaccidentallyâ brushing against Lyonâs behind at the laundrette. Last summer break, Ephraim had been with his father, who wouldnât have appreciated catching his business partnerâs son being stripped down by his own in the kiddie pool.
Now howeverâŚ
âBlush?â he replied innocently, picking at his skinny jeans, âIâmâŚIâm just hot is allâŚâ
âYou can say that again.â
âExcuse me?â Lyon had heard him perfectly well but it didnât hurt to push the point a little.
âYour bodyâŚI mean the temperatureâŚof your body⌠me too,â Ephraim ran a hand through his hair and laughed awkwardly, âNot that you arenât hot in the other senseâŚbecause you areâŚ.but⌠â
Lyon could tell without Ephraim appreciative chuckle that he was blushing even more. He couldnât believe that silly ploy had worked. âIâm just hotâ.. seriously? Perhaps he should pay more attention to those gossip magazines after all.
âIâve never seen those trousers beforeâŚâ Ephraim continued to flounder, âThey really make yourâŚ. You think I wouldâve seen them, as we do our laundry together.â
âPerhaps you were too busy trying to stop yourself touching my bottom?â Lyon suggested, bashfully fiddling with his hair.
Ephraim gave an awkward laugh before seemingly coming to some sort of decision.
âYeah maybeâŚ. Lyon?â he began, leaning casually against the bar and adopting that smile that made Lyon just want to grab him and own him.
âYes Ephraim?â
âHave you ever been in my dorm room? I was thinking those trousers really match my carpet.â
That was awful but Lyon didnât care. Ephraim wouldnât need any more pick-up lines after they were done tonight.
âI would love see if they do,â he replied, Though⌠Iâve never gone that far with anyone before⌠through campus I mean.â
Ephraim grinned at his coy tone and Lyonâs thoughts sung as he was led from the bar. Finally! He couldnât wait until Ephraim revealed another item of clothing that heâd been careful never to publicly launderâŚ
What's a fond memory you have of time with your father?
I donâtâŚwellâŚ
I remember a day from when I was about six or seven years old. Everyone in the castle seemed to be acting oddly and I still donât understand why. I got scared and went and hid in the library as usual. My father found me. He wasnât with any of his generals or guards. He was by himself, which Iâd never seen before.Â
He sat down next to me and picked up the book I was reading. Pulling me close, he began to read. He sounded sad but he sat with me by his side and he read to me all the way up to dinner. Then that evening he came to say good night to me, and tucked me into bed rather than Sister Audrey.
That never happened again. Â The day after next was the first time Sister Audrey ever let me touch my motherâs circlet, but I donât think the two could be related. Could they?
It was on impulse, the second he saw Lyon again after so long, that Ephraim reached for his hands, quickly, with no hesitation. "I need to do something... I should have done a long time ago," he said. And before he could stop himself, he threaded his fingers through Lyon's hair and pulled him into a long, gentle kiss.
There was thinking about it (a bitâŚsometimesâŚactually a lot, but that had been years ago) and there was actually experiencing it. Despite the initial shock, and sheer unfamiliarity of it all, Lyon found he much preferred the real thing.
...Well, as long as Ephraim didnât notice he was blushing like a maiden during her first dance at a ball.

It hurt. Oh gods it hurt. The cool stone floor against his forehead did nothing to soothe the agony that coursed through his body like shocks of lightning. With every tremor he convulsed, attempting to hide the motion as not to frighten his last loyal researcher. However Knoll had not left the corner of the room, and however much he curled in on himself, he could not stop his clearly-visible shaking.
The demonâs voice was one continuous roar that made his head feel like it would burst. Crackling dark energy leapt at the walls and the wards that formed his cage. No one had ever said how Latona did it. Had he or she been in so much pain they would have welcomed deathâs eternal embrace?
Lyon screamed. He could not open his eyes but he could feel the presence of the sacred stones nearby. Freliaâs and Jehannaâs, obtained through a hasty change in orders. Raustenâs, god bless Knoll for being so good with a warp staff. It felt like he was being torn in three, each stone pulling his soul, in addition to the demonâs, in their separate directions.
He heard a fragmented âyour highnessâ from Knollâs direction. He couldnât reply. He had put himself in this nightmare. Both the possession and this exorcism were his doing and poor Knoll was the one who had to play witness to both. He could feel it whenever Knoll adjusted the stones. It was if a surge of light blinded him from the inside. The sacred stones drew on and channelled compassion as much as they did faith. If he survived, and that seemed an impossible if right now, Knoll would have to become a Duke or something. Or a GeneralâŚOr a Prince. He didnât care he just wanted this over!
He continued to scream as behind him Knoll let a different âyour highnessâ into the room. His screams became even shriller when a fourth sacred stone wrenched his very being in yet another direction. He wanted this to end. Everything to end. This power. This life. He thought all must end as he screamed himself in unconsciousness.
"...Too busy to meet with anyone are you?
That's a farce if I've ever heard that one..."
Her eyebrows furrowed in disapproval, but the guards merely shrugged. They were doing their job, and she couldn't really argue- but she had her suspicions. When was Ephraim ever 'too busy'? She could understand if he was off on another training run, but according to Innes, the King of Renais would be home for some time, likely working of his countries restorations instead of gallivanting off. It was only further proven by the fact that her brother usually accompanied him too, so all this 'busy' atmosphere seemed awfully out of character. Even Eirika always had time for her, and she was always on the throne, working with many nobles and common folk day after day tirelessly...
Or was she just being selfish...?
It was true that Tana didn't bother to send notes of her arrival anymore because she flew in and out of the two nations so frequently, but perhaps...just perhaps Ephraim really was busy today.
Nothing would get done if she just stood around though. With a heavy sigh she dismissed herself from the guards that kept her from entering the deeper chambers of the castle, and slowly made her way to the knights stables where Achaeus, her pegasus awaited her return.
Maybe she'd run into him on the way there if she took long enough..?
To any passerby he would look fairly normal, the only signs of the shaman internally struggling was evident by his missing monocle and slightly furrowed glistening with a thin layer of sweat. Hurrying into the room and closing the door behind him Canas looked over to the prince whom seemed to still be in his rage over what Canas deemed as nothing more than some brigandâs escape after being pursued by the lord.
Sighing as he brought over a glass of water to his captive, Ephraim he proceeded to wipe his brow and bring the glass to his lips. âPlease drink. You need too. After maybe you can possibly give me some insight as to whom that was..?â Canas had really never seen the prince lose his cool, Seeing as it was such an un-royal thing to do he had never expected it to happen. Looking deeply into the princeâs deep blue eyes he silently observed as if waiting for some type of answer to if he could safely untie the lance wielder without him going back into a rampage destroying things that lie in the vicinity.Â
"If I untie you, you must tell me who that was and why you were chasing them.â  He said as forcefully as he could whilst undoing the bonds.Â
