The game was a port of the original arcade game Xain'd Sleena released by Technos into Japan arcades in September 1986. In 1987, the arcade game was exported to the US as Solar-Warrior and the UK as Soldier of Light.

It was ported to the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, Amiga, and Atari ST.

Taito published it in western arcades and it went under the names Solar-Warrior in North America and Soldier of Light in Europe, however these names were only shown on the cabinet. So most players would have only seen the name Xain'd Sleena in-game while playing, which no doubt caused some confusion with the home ports which used the cabinet names. Scan cleaned up and corrected by us, sourced from Flyer Fever.
