Trever had run through his options in his head despite the fact that it was swimming and it hurt and he could barely see.
Ferus and Roan would shit a brick if he came home like this. Which would normally mean Siri. But for once, he wasn’t sure that Siri would be able to help, which means she would probably just tell Ferus and Roan and they would be back to square one. Trever couldn’t afford square one.
But Chyla, Chyla could actually help with her nursing know-how. And yeah, he did figure that she’d freak out too, but since she could do something, maybe she wouldn’t tell his dads.
Besides, he didn’t see a lot of other options because the throbbing in his temple was getting way too bad to think it through better.
He stared for a moment at Chyla’s front door. He knew she sometimes hid a key for him, but he’d never once used it, so picking the lock was probably easier. But his head felt fuzzy so hopefully no one came along if it took him longer than usual to pick the lock.
Fortunately it was late enough that there wasn’t anyone around as he fought with the lock to the front door. But that also meant it was dark in Chyla’s place.
Not that he could see anything through the blood-matted hair hanging in his eyes anyway.
“Hey, Chyla?” he called out, hoping she was awake or would wake up. He didn’t want to stumble through the dark if he didn’t have to.
