Where: Cass's House When: Late evening Who: @solreznik
The last 72 hours had been an absolute roller coaster of emotions for Cass, and to say she was exhausted was an understatement. Mentally and emotionally, anyway. Her body still felt keyed up and on edge, like she'd never really stepped back from the edge she'd been pushed to.
Her meeting with the council had been far shorter than she'd expected, on account of the fact that Andy - fucking Andy was there. They'd all but given up hope on her brother by then, and Renee had even started to move on. Cass was ecstatic to have her oldest brother back, to know that Renee had her husband, and that the boys had their father. That Andy would finally get to meet Henry! There was so much to be grateful for, and while she'd managed to hold up the front she'd been putting on for everyone, she felt strangely removed from the elation she knew was there. Like it was buried beneath everything else that had piled up. Andy had needed sleep as he was still recovering, so she'd headed out before Alex, reassuring the eldest brother that she'd be back to see him tomorrow, and letting Alex know that she was meeting Sol at the house so he wasn't surprised when they were both there.
After a brief stop in the barn to see that Zodiac was settled in, she trudged her way up to the farmhouse, hand on the doorknob before she realized that Sol had settled himself into one of the rocking chairs there. "Hey, you could've waited inside, ya know," she said teasingly, gesturing for him to follow her inside.
The moment they were inside and the door was closed behind them, she turned and wrapped her arms around Sol. "I really need you right now," she admitted in a raspy voice, before burying her face against his chest, her entire body shaking as she started to sob wordlessly.
