Dr. Vandana Shiva is one of my seed heroes. Tonight she gave a powerful talk called "Soil Not Oil". She speaks like a prophet, backed with a deep understanding of the science of soil life, genetically-modified seeds, climate change, and the impacts of all of these on human health. My partner Chris asked her advice on healing people's relationship to soil when they come from communities that have been historically alienated from the soil. She started with: "First, I'm so honored to meet a real farmer from Mississippi..."
