totally feel you re: the sherlock fandom. actually, the superwholock fandom in total. i used to be a huge part of it but it's become really toxic... i'm sorry you're frustrated. if you wanna talk sherlock, i'm 100% happy to gush with you ^_^
Oh I was never even part of it to begin with, Iāve always watched Sherlock casually but as of late, Iāve begun to want to know what people thought about things like Maryās death and things like that. Turns out they donāt care, all they see is Johnlock, I was a bit baffled by how unidirectional everything is. The feminist in me canāt help but notice the complete lack of respect for female characters and female characters as sexual beings. Itās insane when you take into consideration the fact that most of the fandom, from what Iāve gathered, are women. Like, in this episode, Sherlock was comforting John about Maryās death and hugged him, I thought it was a nice gesture, all they saw isĀ āthe beginning of a love storyā andĀ āqueerbaitingā (yes, hugging your bestfriend when his wifeās just died is queerbaiting, apparently) Iām torn because Iām all for LGBT and queer representation in general, but I just donāt see it in Sherlock? Maybe Iām the one whoās wrong, I donāt know. But peopleās first instinct when one of the only women with an important role in a TV show dies shouldnāt beĀ āoh yes, now the two main male characters can get it onā andĀ ātheyāre gonna raise a baby togetherā. It completely baffles me that theyāre reducing a womanās role to that of a vessel thatās here to satisfy theirĀ ādomestic AUsā and that theyāre erasing her from the narrative.Ā Iām sorry, Iām venting a little. I hadnāt felt the need to look at fandom tags before. I guess the fandomās reputation was well earned.

I hope to god heās a Gryffindor or Slytherin, I want him to be brash and bold and unapologetic about it, I want him to sarcastic and loud and clever and while heās not opposite to Newt, I want there to be a contrast
