Cant get yours and icemankazansky's conversation in the comments of the selkie ice fic out of my head so consider this scenario inspired by both of your convo: the rest of the class knows ice is a selkie because he won't let them forget - he is in fact not above turning into a seal and staring at his competition with limpid eyes just when they've got lock on him and then flipping the situation on them while they're going into cardiac arrest from the cute. if anyone complains too much slider just slides them limited edition ice baby pics to shut them up because ice was in fact born as the tiniest fuzziest little seal baby. slider's got a whole racket going on of ice's baby pics. that's how mav meets ice. ice is his usual swagger and posturing in the o club and in mav's face while in the background slider is dealing his baby pics like a drug dealer. mav actually seems like he will be the one to end ice (and slider's) reign of terror because he seems to be a little immune to ice's tactics, which intrigues ice. but actually mav's just better prepared because of goose's warnings and is also really good at like breathing exercises or something to get him through ice's cuteness attacks. ice and mav are going head to head in the competition. then the whole jacket fiasco happens and mav can finally squish seal ice and give him belly scritches and boop his nose like he's been thinking about for weeks now behind his mask of competition
