Second bowl attempt from soft maple. I really like the shape of this one, but if you watch the video at the end you’ll see it has a bit of a telltale heart problem 😂. I wish I had a set of calipers deep enough to measure exactly how thin it got at the bottom. My wife and I had to attend to a medical missions conference in Kentucky. Instead of flying, we decided to turn it in to a 12 day road trip. We decided to drive, so that I could bring some lumber I found on craigslist. Amazing deal on 7 cherry slabs (24” wide, over 8.5 feet long and 2” thick) @ $90 a slab. We also bought some spalted maple and black walnut lumber as well. This all I could fit in our truck. Altogether, I think we got an amazing deal. Another couple of loads of (soft/hard) maple and oak lumber. I also bought about 1000BF of rough cut maple as well. Storage became an issue as I decided to buy most of the lumber but the seller agreed to store them free of charge for a year until I get my shed setup. Man I love the feeling of great deals and been able re-purpose such an amazing/scarce resource.. glad to have a stock of lumber for future projects..
