Your eyes open as a sleepy smile reaches your face. You grumble to yourself as you reach around in your blankets, trying to find your phone, finally freeing it from the confines of the fluffy pit. 2:38 am. You let your phone hit somewhere on your bed, and you recall the hazy memories of the dream you were having before you woke up.

Minghao was holding your hand, swinging them back and forth, childlike and carefree. You we’re walking down a familiar path in a park, and you saw his smile bloom on his face as he pulled you into a hug beneath the trees. Everything was bright and warm, just like him.

You rub your eyes, trying to fall back asleep. You fail, so you indulge in the next best option, texting Minghao. Reaching blindly for your phone, and trying not to be loud, you start texting on your blinding phone screen.

You: babe.

You figured he wouldn’t be too busy, but you didn’t expect to see the typing bubble so quickly.

Hao🌹: why’re you awake? What’s the matter?

You: Nothing. What would be the matter?

Hao🌹: well isn’t it like... 3 am in America?

You facepalm as you slowly come to your senses. It is 3 am, and he isn’t in the same time zone as you are right now. You we’re staying with a friend of yours, and you guesses your subconscious was missing him more than you would like him to know.

Hao🌹: well since I know nothing is wrong, what’s up baby? 😊

Your smile returns to your face when you remember why you texted him. Your thumbs fly over the keyboard at sonic speed, trying to recount your dream to him in a way he would understand why you had to text him.

Hao🌹: babe..

Hao🌹: why is that literally so cute? :(

Hao🌹: I’ll take you to all the parks when you get back to find the matching one so we can recreate it 💙

You felt your heart flutter at his last text, and you knew he was counting down the days till you went back, just like you were.

it’s the end of your first date. minghao walks you to your doorstep, hand in yours. you both linger in the doorway, neither wanting such a perfect night to end. but there’s the promise of a second date in way he presses his lips to your forehead, a soft, lingering moment that leaves your breath catching in your throat. he looks into your eyes and smiles, squeezes your hand.

“i’ll let you know when i get home,” he tells you, and you nod. when he turns to leave, his hand slipping from yours, you let out the breath you’d been holding and bring your hands to your cheeks. the heat brings a wide smile to your face, and you bite your lip, unable to handle the giddy feeling rising in your chest.
