Hi! You just got recommended on my dash! I was wondering, I got skates for xmas and they don't have good ankle support, is there anything I can do to make it a little better? I'm working on ankle strength but is there any insert or trick you know of?
Try going to a boot maker and seeing if they can put inserts into the leather.Â
If you have soft skates/softech skates then you’ve been given skates that are not right for learning figure skating.Â
I was given a horrible pair of soft skates for my very first pair (also an xmas present) which I couldn’t even stand up in (and I was already starting to learn beginner spins/hops and backwards crossovers), My parents had bought them online and had to send them back to the seller, we then got Jacksons.Â
Ankle strength is great, inserts are a good trick but if the boots just aren’t hard enough then its not going to help all that much. So try the leather inserts (from a boot maker, you’ll have to do some searching, I drive 2 hours to get to the nearest boot maker) and if they don’t work or the boot maker says the boot are not right then you’ll have to find other skates.
