hi. i bring you a gift.
lohen takes you for a walk in the forest. you keep waiting for him to tell you to run, for him to make some comment to make you shiver, but… it never comes. instead, the bag he’s carrying wafts a tasty aroma to your nose every time he adjusts it on his shoulder, spoiling the surprise, just a little. you of course don’t know everything he’s planning, but you can still smell food you can easily eat. and it smells… really good? you can’t help but wonder if he did something to it.
there’s a catch. there has to be a catch.
you wind up in a clearing alone together, the sounds of the forest slowly filling back in as the creatures adjust to your presence. for the moment, the two of you aren’t a threat. now and then you even see a few curious deer and foxes pop out of the thickets a little ways out, peering at you. lohen’s set out a comfy blanket, along with that food you were smelling and some fresh water. again, he tells you, he put some extra stuff into the food to help you regain some nutrients. but again, he insists on not telling you what.
the sun is warm without being sweltering and the breeze is cool and pleasant. you lean on his shoulder and slowly let out a deep sigh you didn’t realize you’d been holding in.
“hey, just relax for now, sweets. everything’s fine.”
you want to tell him that things are not all fine… but you see his smile. a slight flush on his cheeks. warmth in his eyes.
maybe, if just in that little clearing, everything is okay for now.
AND HERE COMES EL WOTJ THE STEEL CHAIR
