20.05.2015 Cats of Transnistria release the Sofia Okkonen directed clip for Away EP cut The Departure
The video premiered at Ja Ja Ja Music where Dani Charlton commented: " the song itself is not a delicate one; though the arrangement is sparse and melodies simple, there is something in the delivery of it that feels rich and with real weight behind it, with the song’s impact coming from the time it demands of you. At 7 minutes 18 seconds, this isn’t a throwaway pop song, it’s an expertly expanded exploration of an idea, unfolding slowly. The video is another study in simplicity, subtlety, and making an awful lot out of very few elements. it is, technically speaking, a very straightforward ‘performance’ type of video, but careful use of light, shadow and the occasional swirl of smoke make the atmosphere around the performance compelling and beautiful."

WATCH CATS OF TRANSNISTRIA’S DREAM LIKE VIDEO FOR THE DEPARTURE
The Helsinki based duo Tuomas Alatalo and Henna Emilia Hietamäki form Cats Of Transnistria. Their dreamy atmospheric sound and aesthetics have seen them captivate audiences with their debut release from last January, Away Ep. We return to the EP with the the video for closing track The Departure.
The video, directed by friend and photographer Sofia Okkonen, slowly unwinds through shadows and smoke to reveal a fine band performance full of emotion and mood, reflecting The Departure‘s dream state structure and sense of longing. Hypnotic and at times surreal, The Departure‘s 7 plus minutes is something to get lost in.
