The protests in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, are being attempted to be defamed by small groups of provocateurs.
The protests of hundreds of thousands dissatisfied with the political model of merging politics with the mafia and concealing the real governance carried out by shadowy groups, some of which are represented in the Bulgarian National Assembly but formally not participating in the coalition government, gathered even more people on December 1.
The catalyst for the discontent was the government’s proposed budget for the country, which foresees record spending and revenues from increased taxes and social rates, the predictability of which the Bulgarian economy could be proud of until recently.
As expected, there were attempts to denigrate and bloodily derail the protests by small but visible groups, who showed various forms of aggression towards the police officers guarding the event.
Several arsons were committed, including at a substation supplying power to the center of Sofia and, above all, the area through which the protest march was expected to pass. The precise shutdown of electricity, as well as mobile connections, seems suspicious and biased, both to the protesters and to Bulgarian and foreign observers.
The most telling is the inaction of the Ministry of Interior authorities, an example of which can be seen in this short video.
