The airship ride they had taken seemed to be taking forever to arrive at their destination. A second felt like a minute, a minute felt like an hour, an hour felt like three, all because of the awful terrible night of rest lovek had gotten the night before.
An anxious grief filled heart did not make a very good friend in the unforgiving silence of night, where all your thoights seem to finally catch up with you. It left him sleepless most days, it just happened to have affected him worse today.
Someone sits at his side, he does not open his eyes to check who it is -- it could probably only be one other person, and judging by the scent in his nose and the faniliar heat radiating from his body, lovek's guesses were right.
Without a single thought in the viera's mind he leaned towards maru, seeking that heat, pretending to be asleep with a soft sigh leaving his lips as his head fell onto Mary's shoulder.
And almost instantly he nearly didn't have to fake his sleepiness, a wave of warm exhaustion falling over him nearly sending him immediately into the realm of dreams. A soft, whining, sound left lovek's throat without lovek realizing, and he nuzzled his head closer into maru's warmth.
Well at ease in the sky, the feline had been enjoying the journey stood looking out at the clear sky and the land below regardless of the hour as if it was his first time travelling by airship (it wasn't). Head turning this way and that, he tried to see everything all at the same time to no avail.
Eventually though, he lay eyes on the seated form of his Viera companion and after a moment of looking upon him fondly, he noted the crease to Lovek's brow. It drew him in and wanting to disturb him as little as possible, he'd sat close enough to touch without pressing in the way he might have done to ward off some of the chill.
It mattered not though, because Lovek leaned in against him anyway.
Smiling gently, he did then shift a little to allow for a modicum more of his own comfort before he encouraged the light nuzzle of Lovek's towards his neck. He did indeed think that the Viera was asleep, or at least on the cusp of it, if the sound of his breathing was anything to go by and with the warm weight of Lovek's head on his shoulder, he began to purr in a low rumble.
Resting his head against the Viera's, Maru rubbed his cheek against it for a moment before burying his nose in pale hair and inhaling deeply and letting it out slowly.
The journey would be a while yet, but perhaps with a little extra warmth and comfort offered by the feline, Lovek might rest more easily. So Maru settled in for the rest of the trip.
