Tessa has never really had proper [parents]. She has always been her own parent, considering her father left when she was younger and her mother was always so abusive and cruel to her. She had to grow up by herself, she had to fend for herself, not only, but for her two little baby siblings as well since the age of seven. That is why Tessa is so independent, so incredibly guarded and protective over her siblings. In her own way, she has become their parent and now that their mother is dead and their father no where to be seen, Tessa is their [ s o l e g u a r d i a n]. 

Daphne often wants things that she knows can only lead to her, and ultimately Helen’s, downfall. She wants love, she wants to be able to be free and have fun, and although she accepts and always carries through with her responsibility, she can’t help but wonder what life would be like without it. Even the littlest things that Daphne craves push her away, because of her fear of losing her sister and failing, again.
