The Internet & Narcissism or: WHY YOU SHOULD READ THE SH!T WE WRITE
Chances are you have some kind of social media outlet you subscribe to and/or update whenever you feel it is necessary. Well, you're not alone! You, along with billions of other people do, including Jesus Christ and my thirteen year old nephew.
Beyond what the social implications may be if Jesus does not accept your friend request, basically anyone can access these websites and create their own profile. For some reason, us humans really want other people to constantly know what we are doing, no matter how personal.
I have felt quite awkward just by going through my News Feed on my Facebook account. When these things are too personal, what does the poster want the reader to do exactly? Is it appropriate to "like" the update a friend posts saying they were evicted?
This brings me to the first of the two main categories of social-networking no-no's:
1) THE OVER-SHARE: items that fall into this category actually make you feel intrusive by just reading things 'friends' post, to the point where you want to get away from your computer and possibly scrub your brain of what you just read. ["OMG! HERPES SUCKS!"]
Now, here is the more lame, younger sister of the over-share:
2) THE WHO GIVES A FCUK?!: items this would apply to might cause someone to repeatedly hit their heads on any available hard, flat surface because they ask themselves 'who gives a fcuk?!' Does it really matter that you are 'eating pizza because I'm so bad!! LOLZ' or 'My cat, Snickerdoodle, really loves to play with my yarn when I'm knitting'. These things make you seem lame and don't hide the fact that you will probably never see the genitalia of the opposite sex.
That said, this blog proclaims its creators are awesome [because we are], and therefore no meaningless, over-shares or who gives a fcuk posts will ever grace this tumblr! Posts we write, we run by Chuck Norris first. So far, he has cried due to reading everything we plan on putting on this, and his tears cure cancer.
