- even if you get along great with your family, you will get along even better after moving out
- everyone else is too busy panicking about everyone else noticing every tiny thing that could possibly be wrong about them to notice any tiny thing that could possibly be wrong about you
- the person on the other end of the phone probably hates talking on the phone as much as you do. Even a receptionist. Be nice to them please! Frequently you aren’t talking to the person in charge of making decisions.
- Take pictures and have prints made and put them in photo albums. Be IN the pictures. Someday that friend might be gone and those pictures might be all you’ll have; you will want to be in them.
