Project Fixie/Single Speed
finally got a day to myself yesterday!!! also it was a nice sunny day and damn i forgot how long its been since i had a day that i had nothing planned to do. so i decided to finally work on project fixie/single speed. i really think i'm gonna do a single speed. if i do a fixie, i just see my ass not being able to stop and find myself in someone's bumper.
here's my first initial frame that i gotten from the denver police auction. which i have to say was really fun and i got to play with a auction bid number. i'll admit that i felt like a lil kid and wanted to bid on everything to piss people off. the only bad thing is that it had a one piece american crank and i didn't want to deal with finding the correct bottom bracket conversion kit.
luckily i found another frame that would fit me on cl for $50 and grabbed that saturday morning. the white paint trek used was really awesome, there was a lil bit of pearl paint in there. i almost kept it like that but the paint was really beaten up.
wasn't totally sure what color scheme i should use. was running around the home depot paint area playing around with all the color swatches to figure out what i wanted to go with. finally settled on the aqua.
i'm very absent minded about things and here's a great example. after striping, priming and three layers of base i walk inside my apartment for a quick drink and realized its a bit hazy and took my glasses off to clean and realized there's a shit ton of overspray on my new prada glasses. luckily i was able to get it all off with some alcohol. threw my old messed up pair of glasses that i don't care about on and back to painting.
my lil make shift paint booth (don't worry i had cardboard on the sides too). my whole porch area looks like a old smurf farted blue dust everywhere. hopefully it'll rain more and wash away some of the blue funk.
very happy how it came out. only had one run in the paint and that was only in the clear. i can wet sand it out but i doubt i'll be adventurous enough to do that. i kinda was hoping for a lil more green in the paint but i'm happy with the smurf blue i found.
