The one where you get a high from listening to music? Just the sheer audial experience allows you to feel lighter and, just, plainly happy?
It's something that comes and goes; you find it every once in blue moon, or less often.Â
For me, it comes when I need a friend. And while it sticks around, it's a fantastic friend indeed. This high that I get, it comforts me - hugs me better than any person I know - and inspires me further than any fact or plan I can find. It keeps me going on with life, and I know I can turn to it for any reason: if I feel great and want to keep it going, it stretches that feeling; if I feel awful and want to wallow or boost my mood, it'll do either, whichever I want at that moment.Â
I've found a band to help me for now. I wasn't sure why I'd found it until tonight, but now I know that I can trust these inspirations and comforts it brings me. I needed them, and they were here. Not only do the instruments resonate in my heart, but the lyrics and melodies mirror my feelings and advise me against sadness.Â
It's great. Life is beautiful. This music I've found - it's acting as the medium of color in my life, and I don't want to change it.Â
Eventually, I'll get tired of this band, their sound; this drug's potency will dwindle until it means only a memory. It'll have completed its duty, though; I'll no longer need its companionship and won't need to lean on it for strength.
I appreciate these things, and can expect help in its presence.
Why do some people not see the beauty in music? It's not a nuisance - it's a crutch, necessary for coping, moving on, and living a wondrously full life. Â
