Johann Adalbert Angermayer - Hin geht die Zeit, her kommt der Tod {Time passes, death comes} - Still-life with a skull and soap bubbles (c.1735)
This is a fairly typical depiction of the themes of Vanity/Memento mori, embedded in a Christian (Protestant) context. The truncated quote from 1 Corinthians 15:30 is taken directly from Martin Luther’s translation of the New Testament: Und was stehen wir alle Stunde in der Gefahr? And why are we in danger every hour? (Modern: Und warum stehen wir jede Stunde in Gefahr?)
The panel (oil on wood) is fairly small, ~ 22×28 cm, and the bubbles are only ~2 cm in diameter - which makes the reflections of the windows in them almost microscopic: they are less than 5 mm each. And yet we can clearly see how successful are the artist’s efforts to depict the convex shape of these reflections.
