100,000+ self hosted Wordpress Sites infected by malware
more than 100,000 Wordpress sites have been infected by a Russian malware called SoakSoak, tansforming these sites and blogs into infection platforms.
Google search has already blocked 11,000 domains from search results, in an effort to slow the infection spreading. The malware uses a vulnerability in a slideshow plug-in called Slider Revolution, the vulnerability have been fixed with updates, but the old,vulnerable version of the plug-in is still bundled with many Wordpress themes.
This malware affects only self hosted wordpress sites, and does not affect sites hosted on wordpress.com.
