Hmmm, I might have found myself a pretty interesting book! I’m feeling tempted into buying it because the way is written had me intrigued. It’s definitely my kind of read. Totally centered around political theory, which it’s one of my favorite subjects.
#césar borgia#cesare borgia#i was until now reading everything that is available on books google#and i must say i am...impressed. and hooked!#i wasn't expecting something so refreshing from a machiavelli's bio#(this author really tackles the problem that plagues machiavelli's bios where cesare is concerned btw)#he elevates the conversation#it's pure politics; beautifully academic but straightforward lol#when he used one of weber's theories to make a sort of comparison to cesare's state in the romagna i was like:#isn't that a reach? and he himself admits it can be odd to draw this comparison#but then he explained and yeah i can see it#and oh my god when he writers about ramiro's execution and how much of a political spectable it was#so calculated#i knowwww#i cannot deal with how well versed cesare was in politics and the importance of a good spectable#it's where he had me#and clearly also machiavelli lmao#it just made me want to re-read weber and machiavelli's main works#and then read this book and write down notes like i used to do on my IR course#i miss that i guess#anyways
