During the spring and summer it was awesome to cycle everywhere, break a sweat and enjoy the weather.
As the fall approached and the temperatures started to gradually drop it was still very enjoyable and less sweaty and gross. It was nice not to have to bring multiple changes of clothes.
Many many times during the summer I would have to bring along a change of clothes if I was going to a meeting, event or etc. In the fall, that became a less common occurrence. As the temp continued to drop, I continued to start wearing more layers to remain comfortable. This was fine and it was not like I had not cycled through the winter in the past...
Little did I know that this winter would be very cold. Cold as in -30 with windchill... That was the coldest day that I cycled this winter where my fingers, toes and others things went completely numb within a couple of minutes.
Since I choose to give up my car and cycle, I was committed to staying the course and not accepting help. I put myself in this situation. I would problem solve or push through it.
I also could not accept rides because what was I going to say, ya you can drop me at home, I mean my office, I mean just kidding....
In my mind I would repeat things to myself as to stay focused and not give up:
Layer up next time. Smile when it hurts. This will make a great story. Toughen up. Its only a few months. This is New Hampshire. Man up.
