cedric hasn’t seen the younger boy since he gave him that clue about the egg, and the longer he’d thought about it, the more he’d realised he’d been a bit vague. after all, harry had been completely straightforward about the first task and told him exactly what it was. all cedric had done was tried to push him in the right direction.

     and that isn’t fair. harry is a good three or four years younger than him, and even if he is a pretty talented wizard, he’s still starting on the back foot. and cedric had come to feel a little protective of him over the last few months. he doesn’t deserve any of this.

          “can i talk to you for a second?” he asks.

          ❝ i think i have to break up with her, ❞ ron announced, completely unrelated to anything harry had potentially said prior to coming to his decision. cautiously, he turned to look over his shoulder at lavender then back to his best friend with a far more desperate expression on his face. ❝ i mean, she’s great and all. but... ❞ a heavy sigh fell from the red head as he sat back in his chair, the charms textbook long forgotten despite the pressing essay deadline. ❝ i just don’t have time for this. between quidditch and exams and whatever’s going on with hermione or malfoy for that matter... i can’t schedule in that many hours of snogging. ❞

          Hermione stood on the other side of the tent, listening to Harry´s voice. It felt good to hear it after they hadn´t spoken in DAYS. She hadn´t really made any conversation with Ron either, because he was angry with Harry and while Hermione could see where he was coming from she didn´t think it was right to leave Harry alone in all of this.

         Which was partly the reason she had come to see him. The other part had to do with the fact that she was TERRIFIED something could happen to him.

         “I know, Harry.” She eventually spoke, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth. “You´ve already got eternal glory when you survived all those years ago. This…” She gestured around, very AWARE that he couldn´t see her. “This would just…be a chance for people to see you fall. You wouldn´t willingly put yourself in that situation.”  She sighed.
