So Snark NYC is probably in August again???
And I'm going to be in NYC the whole month of July. FML
Not SnarkNYC!
If I ever organize a tweet-up/Tumblr-down (or whatever the fuck the kids are calling it these days), it would have some kind of absurd name like: The Semi-Annual Get-Together of the Internets That Is Most Certainly Not SnarkNYC But Kinda Is. No Really It's Not (Yes It Is). Everyone would have to come as their favorite character from Bizarro Earth, such as Batzarro, or Bizarro Lois, or you know don't… it's cool. I would come as Bizarro Tom; apparently he would have his life together, written a dozen books, be married with kids, but that's a story for another time.
Snark After-Action Report Part 4: Los Tres Amigos
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
Whiskeyandwaves, jaymarsee, and I went back to whiskey’s hotel room, where we dropped off our bags and warmed up a little bit. We went to the Starbucks around the corner from her hotel. There, we bullshitted for nearly an hour and a half.
Right around then, my friend Mike texted me asking me where I was. I looked at my battery power, and it said “24%” or something like that; really low. So I texted back that I was with friends at Starbucks in Manhattan.
We started to talk about getting to somewhere to eat, but everything was closing (it was after six at this point on a Sunday). jaymarsee recommended that she saw a food court in Grand Central. So, back to Grand Central we went. Everything there was either closed, or didn’t look appetizing, so we started looking on Yelp! and other such apps for something else.
I thought I had found something, and started leading out of the station. Upon exiting, however, I somehow lost all sense of direction and might as well have been blind (sorry, ladies. :( ). We were supposed to be on 2nd Ave but ended up on 5th somehow.
Jenna didn’t have any socks on (don’t kill me, Momalaice), so we stopped at a H&M so she could get some cheap socks to put on. While we were there, I found through Yelp! a cute Mediterranean place called Pera Mediterranean on I believe 2nd Ave. The Yelp! app is cool in that if the restaurant is set up to do it, you can make reservations right through the app. I made reservations for 3. We were at the restaurant in 3 minutes.
The service and the food at this little Mediterranean place were both fantastic (I’ve had one of the best chickens I’ve had in a restaurant in like forever).
Anyway, we were there until nearly 10pm. We went back to Whiskey’s hotel room and shot the breeze for another couple of hours and let our phones recharge. By that point, it was after midnight. It had been decided that Jenna was going to spend the night at Whiskey’s hotel room. I was very tired, and besides, I didn’t want to miss the last train for the day out of Penn Station home.
We said our goodbyes, and I took a cab to Penn Station.
As I boarded the train, I took my Jets hat off and laid it on the seat next to me.
It was a sad moment for me.
The Snark that I had looked forward to for months was now over. For two days, I mattered. For two days, I wasn’t the freak. For two days, I had friends that understood me almost as well as I understood myself. For two days, I had a purpose.
Now I was going back to my solitary existence in my solitary world in my solitary life. Back to reality.
But why can’t that be my reality every single day of my life? What is it about these two to three days that makes me come alive for a few moments, only for my soul to come crashing down to misery the moment I step off the train after its over?
On the train ride back, I contemplated these things and dozed off somewhere around Hicksville. I woke up in Central Islip (the stop right before mine, luckily).
When the train stopped, I stepped off, out of the magical land of elves, pixies, and trolls and lobster women. I was back in the gray, listless world I was born into; back to my own mundane, tedious existence.
As the train doors closed and the train pulled away to the yard, I realized that I didn’t have my Jets hat with me; I had left it on the seat.
Hey to my new friends
I have yet to reach out and talk about all the fun I had meeting all of you. I enjoyed hugging you all twerking with others, booty shots and breast comparisons(where's the footage????) it was great especially because we just met but we knew each other instantly. I look forward to seeing you all again.

No, we hadn’t met before but it was great to meet and get to know you!
IÂ thought so, but I wasn't sure. Â I can't tell you how many times Saturday night after introducing myself I heard, "We met at the last Snark," or something similar. Â Apparently, I was drunker than I thought.

That may be one of the best compliments I’ve ever received! (I’ve always loved that Stuart Scott line.) Thank you! I’m so glad that we got to brunch & hangout with you on Sunday before I left!
Likewise! Â It was good seeing you again!
