This was nothing Len could have expected when she'd left home for the mall earlier. Her body seemed to float through the twists and curves of the tube Daemion had convinced her to climb in and slide down. She had to admit this was much more fun than getting ditched by her friend. And then it hit her, just as she could see the light at the tube's end.
"Daemion!" she called out, body exiting the tube.
"Look out below!" Daemion's voice seemed to echo through the tube before his body followed, Len managing to step to the side to avoid collision.
"Daemion, how am I supposed to get back home?" Len asked.
"Funny thing about that."
"I'm not saying you can't," Daemion said, leading Len down what looked like a metal cavern, "I'm just saying that going home might be the best option."
"What do you mean by that?"
"These guys -- The Syndicate, they'll hunt you. They won't stop until either they've killed you or you've joined them," Daemion paused for a second, "And they don't give a damn what they have to do or who they have to go through to do it."
His pause hadn't gone unnoticed by the ivory-haired girl, who spoke up, "I'm guessing they took someone from you...?"
Daemion seemed to seize up for a second before breathing out, "Don't worry about it, Len. Let's just get you to Doc."
"Daemion.." Len reached out and grabbed his hand.
"I told you not to..." Daemion trailed off, turning towards her. Sighing, the young man spoke again.
"Yeah, they did." He wriggled his hand free of the girl's grasp, moving to the wall and sitting against it on the cold metal floor, "See, Victor's got powers just like me. Well, not just like me, mine are fire and his are -- I'm getting sidetracked. When I was about eleven, his powers started to develop. So naturally, they came after him. When they did, me and him weren't home...but our parents were. They must've thought Vic was on to them and was hiding in the house or something; tore the place apart.." he paused again, "And when we got home, there was just this-- this guy, eyes wide and bloodshot, standing over my parents bodies, and he's just licking this knife that's covered in what had to be one of their blood, or maybe both; and when he saw Victor he just started screaming! Yelling something like 'There he is! Boy, I've been looking all over for you!'. Vic snapped. He and the guy duked it out for a little bit before he just nails him with one good power shot. Completely shattered the guy's jaw, he must've passed out from the pain. Cops got called, and Victor told them everything we knew for sure. Some sick fuck came looking for him for some reason, killed our parents and then went after him. When the guy woke up they arrested him, he got life, and we went to go live with our aunt Anna up until Victor turned eighteen a few months later. Since then, it's just been us."
Len stood in silence for a moment before moving to where he sat, joining him on the floor. After a few seconds she spoke up.
"Well, damn. I'm sorry. And don't peg me as insensitive or anything like that, but I guess everyone's got some kind of sob story, yeah? I've definitely got one of my own, so I understand."
"You were the one who wanted to know."
"I'm not saying that I didn't want to know. I'm just saying, I understand, dork." she said, pushing him playfully on the last word.
Daemion smiled to himself a little before pushing off of the wall, rising to his feet. "Come on," he stated, reaching his hand out to her, we've got a little further to go."
Taking his hand to pull herself up, Len remarked, "Well then, what are we waiting for?"

Victor stepped through the shattered remains of the hospital doors, glass crunching beneath his sneakers. He'd launched the attacker, but he knew she couldn't be far. Sure enough, he spotted the pink-haired woman slumped , blood flowing from the cuts in her back and pooling beneath her. Her breaths were shallow and labored but she was alive nonetheless. Victor smiled to himself. By now, Daemion and the girl should be with Doc, and by the time The Syndicate's assassin awoke, he'd be long gone. The elder Evans' train of thought was disrupted by the sound of glass under someone's feet behind him. Glancing over his shoulder, Victor was surprised to see the same woman, knives drawn, lunging at him. Thinking quickly, he grabbed her by her arm, and in a move he'd done hundreds if not thousands of times before, threw her over his shoulder and planted her firmly in the ground.
"This time," he snarled, placing a hand on her stomach, "Stay down."
Lexx felt that same pressure flow through her and that sense of immobility fill her body. She had spent all of the energy she had left creating the double, meaning she was stuck there. The man smirked and walked off, leaving her immobile. After a few silent moments she heard another set of footsteps, accompanied by a familiar, yet unfriendly voice.
"Boy, you really screwed this one up, huh. I doubt the boss is gonna be pleased about this."
