hi! this is Very random, but i saw your comment on a snail advice post and cant find an answe anywhere, so here i am :) do pet garden snails hibernate? if so, how do i... awaken them? is it possible to do so? or should i let them “hibernate it out” 😹
Oh hi! Certain species of snails do hibernate in the winter, but it’s unlikely that they would do that if you’re keeping them indoors.
If they’ve gone dormant, it’s more likely that they’re either resting (sometimes for a couple of days) or their conditions are less than optimal . Sub-optimal conditions can include anything from nutritional deficiencies to parasites, but the most common thing I’ve encountered is low humidity! I’d mist the tank, put a new veggie or two in there, and keep a close eye on them.
