I’m doing a project for Banned Books week for one of my LIS classes and I found out that in the 1960s in Oklahoma, a mother’s group protested D.H. Lawrence’s Son’s and Lovers by driving a trailer they called the “smutmobile” around the state displaying books they found objectionable. They were basically trying to shame book sellers into not carrying books they thought were dirty but it sounds hilariously counterintuitive to their mission. I would totally drive that smutmobile though
