Joyce and Hopper get sidetracked in Alaska on their way home from Kamchatka. Caught up in a bad storm, they take shelter in an old cabin where they are forced to confront their past and the turbulent present if they ever want to survive a future together.
An attempt to fill in the blanks on the Russian plot and those missing days before the return to Hawkins (contains canon divergence)
-- Joyce was tossing and turning, still coming down from the adrenaline rush she'd had since she left California. Almost a week had gone by, her mission was finally complete, and she didn't have to worry anymore. Her body was still in fight or flight though, so she had forced herself to fall asleep with a mantra of sorts... Hopper was alive. He was right next to her. Everything was okay. As okay as could be expected for them, anyway.
