Breakfast Hack: Green Apple Pie Smoothie
I prefer to make my smoothies from scratch, but today I was cleaning out the fridge, and realized I had some leftover Odwalla Superfood Smoothie in the fridge.  I love this stuff because it's got a healthy dose of spirulina [great source of protein, helps remove toxins and boosts your immune system, among other things]. The problem with it is the mixture is a bit thin and a little too sweet for my taste straight out of the bottle. I usually have a teeny glass of this alongside my breakfast, but I was in need of something more substantial today.
I opted to add in a few ingredients to turn this into more of a breakfast smoothie. I was surprised to find that it tasted an awful lot like an apple pie or crisp. Â I imagine that's the combination of oats and almonds I used, but either way the results are delicious!
Green Apple Pie Smoothie
1.5-1.75 cups of Odwalla Superfood Smoothie [about the size of one individual bottle, but they also come in an extra large size]
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
1/3 cup almonds
1/2 cup greek yogurt [I use fat free, but any works]
Add everything to your blender and mix! Serves 2-3
