1. Riverclanâs deputy, the biggest hoe with 19 children and only pays child support for one, doesnât really know his clan well. Heâs confident and a smooth talker and can quickly understand what kind of cat you are after only a little conversation
2. Riverclanâs hoe-in-training Smokestorm, a trans tom who actually drinks respect women juice. He likes gossip but quickly forgets the details. He constantly works at making himself a better warrior.
3. The only respectable warrior in Riverclan, Squashnose. He picks up the slack left by Maplewhisker, and is a natural leader. He jokingly says that heâs Maplewhiskerâs rival for taking deputy duties, being his sonâs (the one he actually raised) mentor, and being close friends with his wife. Appreciates the little things in life.
Seattleâs Cliff Mass coined the word âsmokestorm.â Hereâs what he says we need to do to prevent another one.

As wildfire smoke descended on Seattle this week, the sun turned an apocalyptic shade of red and the city breathed in some of the unhealthiest air in the world. A new word to describe this phenomenon graced the headlines: âsmokestorm.â
The person who coined the term is Cliff Mass, professor of atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington and revered Seattle meteorologist. âA Smokestorm is Imminent,â read the title of his blog post last Saturday, in which he projected the dangerously smoky days ahead for northwest Washington state.
âYou have heard of rainstorms, snowstorms, and windstorms,â Mass wrote. âIt is time to create another one: the smokestorm.â
Mass defines a âsmokestormâ as âa sudden onset of high concentrations of smoke that are large enough to affect daily life.âLike other types of storms, a smokestorm disrupts normal operations. In Seattle this week, flights were delayed. The tourism industry took a hit. State health officials even started warning people not to vacuum.
Iâm sick
boo. I had so many plans for running this week, but a combination of smoke and now sickness has put a stop to that. I have another half marathon in a month and a 7k this next weekend. yiiiiiiiikes. My sickness is just a bad cold, I thought it was just the smoke irritating my throat and sinuses, but nope, every day Iâve woken up to it worse than before. I left work a little early today and got most of my shift covered tomorrow, so I just have to go in for 2 hours.Â
In other news I got my flounder purse in the mail today! Itâs different fabric than I pictured. I thought it was going to be plastic-y, but itâs kind of a scuba fabric. Iâm worried it will get dirty super easily, so thatâs scary. But I think itâll work great as a park bag for dapper day and just to go with my costume for trivia this weekend and for halloween!Â

huevember day 26: smokestorm! he's one of the characters getting a major redesign when i redraw the riftclan ref (oo nice alliteration), i want to make him big and fluffy like his sister!
RiftClanâs senior warriors! RiftClan handles the idea of senior warriors a bit differently from the other Clans, as they do with many other things. In RiftClan, the senior warriors are the eldest warriors from each specialty division. Snowspiral is the head Scout, Smokestorm is the head Hunter, and Darkwillow is the head Fighter. These three have the task of helping the deputy set up patrols, training and evaluating new apprentices who havenât yet been assigned a specialty and a mentor, and aiding the leader in making decisions involving their respective divisions. And speaking of divisions, Iâll probably post RiftClan warrior busts by division.
smokestorm and cedarheart are both shadowclan cats. cedar is blackstar and russetfurâs son, smokestorm an outsider. Cedarheart and rowanclaw bully smokepaw during his entire apprenticehood, but one time cedar and smokepaw fight. Smokepaw wins and proves once and for all that heâs a worthy member of shadowclan.Â
after ratscar becomes ratstar and cedarheart gets the role of deputy cedar starts giving smoke the worst patrols, grossest of jobs and is constantly belittilng him. Eventually smokestorm is done with cedarheartâs shit and he yells at cedar right in the middle of camp. Cedarheart keeps taunting smokestorm and vaguely implies heâs the one that âkilledâ softrain (smokestormâs (adoptive) littermate whom he cared a lot about) and smokestorm snaps
the fight again, itâs a bitter and gruesome fight and cedar opens smokestormâs scar (whom he had recieved during their first fight), but eventualy smokestorm kills cedar. he sees the dead body of his bully and then collapses, dead himself
