Ouuh maybe Smitten x Witch? I'd love to see more of your vessel works!! :D
(SMITWITCH IS SO FUNNY!! Mr Loverbird who will literally tear his heart out for his love and a feral cat who doesn't trust anyone- a match made in heaven/silly. Anyway, enjoy!)
Witch grumbled, pacing up and down in the hallway of their home, completely ignoring Adversary, who was leaning against the wall with her arms crossed and an amused look on her face.
"You know Tower will kill you if you make a hole in the floor," Adversary teased, and Witch sent her glare without stopping her pacing. "Tower can fuck off for all I care!" Witch snapped, making Adversary burst out laughing.
Witch ignored her, taking her tail and nervously fiddling with it in her hands.
"He's coming over today," she revealed, her ears straining to hear if anyone was approaching the front door.
"Who?" Adversary asked, and Witch scowled at her and snapped, "Smitten!"
Adversary's face was blank for a second- before she burst into loud, obnoxious laughter, clutching her stomach as she yelled, "What?! Are you serious?!"
"Shut up!" Witch yelled, finally stopping in her tracks to yell at the other, her face burning in embarrassment.
"I thought- I thought you said you weren't going to fall for such a soft hearted fool. Isn't that how you put it?"
"Why are you even laughing?" Witch snapped. "You fell for Stubborn!"
Adversary rolled her eyes, pushing herself off the wall with giggles still spilling out of her. "Yeah, but I didn't announce that I wasn't going to fall for an idiot for weeks on end. I was honest from the start."
"I obviously didn't plan for this to happen!"
"So what happened, then?"
Witch sighed, letting her tail slip from her fingers. She turned her glare to the floor, because she knew that the only person to blame for this mess was her.
She hadn't even intended to interact with any of those bothersome birds at all, but when she had been resting in the woods one day, he just appeared before her.
He smiled like Witch was some cute, harmless thing, the twinkle in his eyes so bright it could've blinded her.
When he spoke, his voice was booming and dramatic, and had the potential to lash her with insults that could easily wound her soul- but what poured out of his mouth was pure poetry.
Witch couldn't trust someone as pretty and as fake as Smitten was. Not at all.
At first, she just wanted him to leave her alone, and she did everything to try and push him away- hiss, curse, bare her fangs. None of it seemed to deter the passionate bird away from her.
Until her anger accidentally got the better of her and she swiped her claws at him, drawing the faintest of blood from his arm.
They both stood there, frozen, and Witch's mind was shutting down in panic at the silence that followed.
'Here it comes,' she thought. 'I've attacked him, so now there's no need for him to pretend anymore. He's going to drop his mask and attack me just like I knew he would and-'
But then he just looked up at her, and apologised to her, instead.
That was when Witch realised- Smitten was a idiot, and she could use that.
If Smitten was determined to be all nice and sweet and loving towards her, then surely she could use that to her advantage.
Smitten could be her protection against the other birds if they ever decided to turn their backs on her. Smitten could make her look like she wasn't a threat, give her the disguise of a cute, harmless princess, so that nobody would think to attack her. Smitten was perfect for that.
"Honestly, I didn't think he'd be your type," Adversary's voice broke her out of her thoughts, and Witch sighed as she bitterly said, "Yeah, well, me neither."
"He seems a little bit too passionate for you."
"Hey! I can be passionate!" Witch exclaimed in offense, pointing towards the front door where Smitten would soon be. "Smitten thinks I'm passionate!"
"Oh yeah?" Adversary said, a hint of amusement in her voice. "What kind of things does he say?"
Witch put her hands on her hips, a proud smirk on her face as she said, "He says that I'm very passionate when it comes to biting people."
Adversary snorted. "He lets you bite him?"
"He's actually a lot tougher than he looks!" Witch was now determined to defend Smitten's honour, because she knew Smitten would just let anyone slander his name so long as his love for Witch was obvious. It was cute, really. But Witch would prefer if he had more backbone when it came to things not about Witch or love.
She's been trying to make him more assertive and honest in other areas of his life, not just in romance. They've been making slow progress, but Witch was nonetheless proud of the effort he was putting in.
"He just cares about a lot of things, and only knows a few ways to express that." Adversary hummed, but Witch didn't believe that Adversary truly understood Smitten, so she kept going.
"He's really kind and caring, and he's always making little treats for me. He's always mindful of my tail- unlike some of you." She sent a pointed glare at Adversary, who didn't even bother to look ashamed.
Witch started to walk up and down again, getting lost in her mind about Smitten.
"He always somehow knows the right thing to say to get me to calm down, and when he hugs me, I just feel- really warm and safe. I've never felt that before. Then- Then he makes these really nice gifts for me, but whenever I try to make one, it always looks shitty, but he just stands there and talks about how much he loves it and-"
Witch stopped once she looked up and saw the playful and knowing grin on Adversary's face, and that was when Witch was aware of how hot her cheeks were.
"Wow," Adversary said, and Witch wanted to tear that grin off her face. "You've really fallen for him."
"Shut the fuck-"
Knock knock.
Witch froze, her heart hammering against her chest. Adversary just chuckled, starting to walk up, but cast one last playful glance over her shoulder as she said, "Good luck."
Witch hissed at her retreating figure, but it was only to distract herself from the nerves crawling up her chest.
She tried taking deep breaths, like Prisoner advised she should do, but the longer she did it, the more she was aware of who was waiting for her outside, so she just clenched her fists and marched over, determination and anticipation in her steps.
She didn't give herself time to think or doubt herself, as she gripped the doorknob tight, and threw open the door.
"Darling! There you are!"
All of the fight left Witch in that moment. Immediately, Witch's shoulders relaxed, and her tail started to wag excitedly behind her, despite her best efforts.
Smitten beamed down at her, and Witch almost lost her breath at the fact that someone was that happy to see her.
She clutched at her dress as Smitten held his hand out to her. "Are you ready for our date, my beautiful?"
Witch tried not to let him see how much being called 'beautiful' affected her. Instead, she ducked her head and sheepishly took his hand, and his thumb instantly rubbed circles on the back of her palm, as she mumbled, "Yeah, let's go."
Smitten happily led her out into the forest, their date being a stroll through a scenic area that Smitten had found.
Smitten had been talking nonstop since they started walking, and at the start, Witch thought it had been annoying and nothing but pointless rubbish coming out of his mouth. But now, Witch could hear the tremor of nervousness in his voice. Not out of fear of her, but fear of ruining this.
Witch couldn't help but love that about him, the fact that Smitten was constantly proving himself to be a trusting partner that only wanted her to be happy and loved. He would shower her in compliments, but also not touch her until she said he could.
Smitten has done nothing for Witch to think that he would betray her or harm her.
Witch felt- safe, with Smitten.
Along with a million other wonderful things that she wasn't even aware that she could feel, but thinking back to the way that she had rambled about Smitten to Adversary, it was clear that he had stolen her heart in the best way possible.
Witch stopped, as the intensity of her feelings hit her, and Smitten stopped as well, giving her such a concerned look, as if the thought of something bothering her bothered him.
Witch couldn't take anymore of Smitten's sweetness, so she reached up to wrap her arms around his neck, stood up on her tiptoes, and crashed her lips against his.
It was their first kiss.
Smitten was stunned for only a moment, before grinning into the kiss and wrapping his arms around her, spinning her around in joy.
They separated, and Witch giggled at the wave of affection that poured out of Smitten, calling her all sorts of pet names while peppering kisses to her face.
Smitten wasn't such an idiot after all. Or if he was, then Witch was just as much of a fool, and she didn't mind one bit.

Hope you have a great day

(spoilers below the cut)
Ok also on the topic of smitwitch, they would subconsciously pick up on each other's vocabulary, especially the insults, but in a really gradual way that very slightly shifts from their normal speaking styles. Because all things considered I think they have already have decently similar vocabularies, but Witch tends towards a cruder, more survivalist tone while Smitten's language feels very lofty and poetic. So among other things, Witch would probably end up calling someone a "nasty little craven scoundrel" and Smitten would say that someone's a "vile and most detestable stinky pest." And whoever they're arguing with would wonder where they learned that.

Do you guys ever think about smitwitch? As in, Smitten x Witch? As in, Voice of the Smitten and The Witch engaging in an interpersonal relationship, potentially with romantic compatibility? As in woman who doesn't trust anyone and the man who will trust nearly everyone? As in two people who could possibly balance each other out? If you don't mind. ādonāt look at me like you still care.ā For Witch and someone else. I'm thinking Damsel, or Smitten, or Hero, or Shifty. But you can choose whoever. Remember to stay hydrated op!
(Thank you anon I will be sure to stay hydrated, and make sure all of you do the same as well!! I picked Smitten for this one because the line suited them the most to me. Also, remember that you can all pick a trope and a feeling from the build a fic!! It doesn't just have to be a line, and it gives me more to work with. Anyway, enjoy!)
Witch huffed, crossing her arms and looking away when she heard footsteps approach her.
"Go away," she hissed, shifting on her spot on the rock, attempting to move away from the person walking up next to her. "I don't want to see your face."
"Why not, beloved?" Smitten asked, and just the gentle tone of his voice was almost enough to make Witch cave and look at him, to believe the things he said about her.
Instead, she gritted her teeth and glared at the ground.
"My dear," Smitten cooed, "my heart breaks at the thought of bringing you any harm, and I wish to do nothing but take it away from you."
Witch sighed sharply. "It doesn't matter. I don't matter. Give it an hour or so and you'll find something else to fawn over."
Smitten was silent, and Witch glared at nothing until her eyes started to blur.
The silence stretched on so long that Witch thought Smitten had silently walked off, but then she heard footsteps come closer to her.
Smitten walked until he was directly in front of her, and she was finding it hard to keep being angry when he was so close now.
"Darling," Smitten softly said, "do you think my affection for you will simply vanish as quick as the wind?"
Witch forced a harsh laugh out. "Of course it will. You love everything and everyone, even when they don't deserve it."
Witch's glaring was starting was grow weaker, her anger and bitterness turning into a heavy dejection. Her shoulders slumped and her tail curled around her waist, but it did little to make her feel less awful.
"I'm- not like you. I don't see the good in everything like you do. You say you love me and that I'm your whole world, but you can easily say that about any other princess, and they'd be so much better for you."
Witch sighed, staring at the soft, shiny feathers on Smitten's chest, remembering all the times she used to run her claws through them, in awe at how soft and fluffy they felt.
Then she remembered all the other sweet moments with Smitten. The way his hugs felt so warm and safe. The way his passionate words made her heart flutter. The gentle and twinkling look in his eyes when he said he loved her.
Witch loved him. She loved everything that was Smitten.
But she also knew that Smitten would be so much happier with someone else.
Her anger was now completely gone, leaving only a lonely hole in her heart. Witch wished she could hold on to that warmth for a little bit longer, but she knew that good things only hid the hurt that was inevitable from her, and she'd rather not drag this on and make the pain worse.
But then she felt a hand under her chin, gently guiding her face up to meet Smitten's eyes.
She knew it was a bad idea, that she shouldn't be having her guard down this much around him, but she couldn't help it.
Witch met his eyes- and suddenly found herself blinking away tears at the love that was so clearly on display for her.
Smitten was giving her a soft smile, eyes holding no outrage or hatred at her accusations. He still gazed at her like she was the only thing important in this world.
"Don't do that," Witch desperately begged. "Don't look at me like you still care."
But Smitten didn't listen to her. In fact, he just leaned in closer, and Witch's tail flicked about nervously.
"Sweetheart," Smitten whispered, "although my heart is grand, and capable of loving many things at once, you are the only one that sets it ablaze with a passion like no other."
"But-" But she was her. She was distrusting and rude and harsh with her words. How was she the best choice for someone as kindhearted as Smitten?
Smitten shook his head. "There is no other that can make my heart beat like you do, despite what you may think. You are beautiful and strong and confident in ways that I can only find absolutely exquisite."
Smitten rubbed his thumb over her cheek softly, and she leaned in to his touch.
"My wonderful Witch, it is you that I am in love with, and there is nobody alive that can change how my heart feels."
Witch smiled, feeling a tear fall down her cheek, and when Smitten leaned in to press a tender kiss to her lips, she found all her doubts and fears disappearing as quickly as her heart beat for Smitten.
