SMITH - NEW PHOTOGRAPHER Nous sommes très heureuses de vous annoncer que le photographe SMITH a rejoint Modds ! @traumsmith ☄️✨ Né en 1985 à Paris, vit à Montreuil (93) Le parcours de SMITH est constitué d’allers retours continus entre recherche théorique et pratique artistique, concentrés sur l’exploration d’une notion directrice : l’identité humaine, à travers ses mues, ses altérations, ses résistances, ses hybridations, ses frontières. Diplômé de l’École de la Photographie d’Arles et du Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains, SMITH signe des œuvres faisant intervenir photographies, sculptures, cinéma, nouvelles technologies, danse et performance au cœur d'installations indisciplinaires. SMITH, photographer, visual artist, director and researcher born in 1985, explores metamorphosis in thought and in practice: transitions of gender, epoch and state, plasticity, hybridity, mutation and dream work mark their proposals starting with "Löyly", their first book published by Filigranes in 2013. SMITH perceives the cosmic porosity of human identity with "Desideration", started in 2017 and introduced in Arles in 2022 as one of the main shows. SMITH, who is also a researcher, creates installations combining photography and other media: video, film, choreography, performance, curating. His work has been exhibited worldwide since his first arlesian exhibition in 2012. He is the author of six monographic books, numerous short films and performances. He regularly collaborates with the French press for portraits, but also with brands, institutions and other artists, creating photographs and films.
