Hello Rei!! Yes, I’m sending you my self-ship Sunday responses on Monday. Yes, 6 days in advance. Yes, you can see how excited I get for this and I have no regrets :P Anyway, here are your answers!! This one’s a long boi.
1. Give me three songs you and Erwin love slow dancing to!!
-> So instead of the instrumental music we listen to, I’m gonna tell you which worded music is on out playlist:
The Way You Look Tonight – Michael Bublé's version
All of Me – John Legend
Can't’ Help Falling in Love – Elvis Presley
2. What happened the first time you both slow danced?
-> Pretty sure I almost fainted from how giddy I felt! I was just goofing around while Erwin was trying to read (I’m a bit of a menace) – giving him a dramatic performance of ‘My Heart Will Go On’ by Celine Dion while he patiently tried to concentrate on his novel. Since I wasn’t getting the attention I so-desperately craved, I was about to plop down on the couch beside him after the song ended. But just then, ‘Fly Me To The Moon’ by Frank Sinatra began playing.
Now, let me tell you, Erwin is good at most things. But the man can’t sing to save his life. And he casually kept his book aside and began to sing along in this God-awful non-tune that had me in splits. And within a flash, he was off the couch and had swooped me into a dance while I was still wheezing into his chest from how hard I was laughing. And he waltzed around the living room with me, continuing to sing nonchalantly as if he’s Sinatra himself. But the laughter died down eventually and before we knew it, we were seven songs in, glued to each other, and quietly swaying together in perfect harmony.
3. Were there any embarrassing episodes that happened during a slow dance with Erwin?
-> Well, I’m good with casual dancing. But I had to learn ballroom dancing for a black-tie event I was to attend with Erwin. He had never trained for it either. But 10 minutes of Youtube tutorials somehow turned him into a professional while I was still struggling pretty bad. I kept looking down at our feet while dancing because I was terrified that he was gonna step on my toes. And given how tiny I am compared to him, my fear of a broken toe was justified, okay?
He got irritated because I’d never learn if I kept looking down and was attempting to lift my face to face his own. And I got annoyed with his constant instructions, and lifted my head up at full speed. Neither of us have no memory of what happened, but my head hit his nose at break-nose speed (haha, get it?), and the next thing we realized was that blood was flowing out of it like the fucking Niagra.
So, I had to drive him to the hospital in the middle of the night, two days before the event, to get it patched. We attended the party with a giant bandage on his face as he made all attendees aware of how I was responsible for his look for the night. Ugh, he still gives me an earful about it sometimes.
Now, time for my questions for you! Just asking 2 this time since I know they're going to have loooong answers!
Have you two met each other’s families yet? How did the first meeting go?
What was your family’s first impression of Levi? And what is it today?
Levi: Oh. You're back.
Rei: I hope you bring Erwin over for a visit soon Mia!!!
Rei: Mia, I am in love with your playlist!!! The songs.. oh... so so good!!! All the classics!!!! Can't Help Falling in Love is mhmm.... Levi and I love it too!!!! Maybe Levi can tell you some of our favourites!
Levi: Fine. Now and Forever by Richard Marx, Can't Take My Eyes off You by Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, and Beautiful in White by Shane Filan.
Rei: MIA!!!! HOLY COW. That is so... so sweet and SO CUTE I am tearing up <3 I am also grinning from ear to ear if you can't tell already!!!
Levi: Tch. You're right. Erwin can't sing to save a life. Mike is much better. But I got to admit. That was smooth of him.
Rei: You should hear about how Levi and I had our first slow dance hehe. *giggles*
[Levi smiles at the memory, his expression soft.]
Levi: We'll leave that story for another time.
Levi: I never knew that. He never told me.
Rei: You don't go around telling people why you had a nose bleed Levi...
Levi: He claims that I'm his 'best friend' yet I am unaware of this?
Rei: Oh. So now you call him your best friend when something embarrassing happened???
Levi: Best friends are there to embarrass you most of the time, no?
Rei: ... no? I mean, yes you're not wrong but, best friends are there to SUPPORT you too???
Levi: Fine. I get why he didn't tell me this happened. I didn't tell Erwin the time with the Ver-
[I hurriedly covered Levi's mouth, keeping him quiet. I quickly tried to change the topic. My cheeks heated up at the thought of a certain memory.]
Rei: Anyway! Omg Mia, I hope you didn't get too much of a lecturing from your colleagues or supervisors during the event... must have been awkward if Erwin appeared with bandages... omg.
Levi: Oi. Haven't we already answered this question?
Rei: It doesn't hurt to answer again~
Levi: ... well fine. Nothing unexpected though. Her dad hated me, her mum liked me. End of story. At least it's better now since we've been together for a few years already.
Rei: Initially my parents couldn't accept the fact that I wasn't dating someone Chinese, or at least Asian, but who gives a heck about it? Levi and I are going to have beautiful mixed blood babies and I don't even care about anything else.
Levi: Oi, brat, shut up.
Rei: What? I'm not wrong. Our kids are going to be gorgeous. Our daughter will have your eyes. I just know it.
Levi: Tch, whatever. You think too much.
Rei: I was so worried that Aunty Kuchel wouldn't like me, but she was so sweet and lovely!! She even joked with me and asked me what did I see in Levi that made me fall in love with him, hahaha.
Rei: But uhh... Uncle Kenny though... *shurgs*
Levi: He said she was a midget being in a relationship with another midget. Tch.
Rei: No offense Levi, but yeah. You know my parents had issues about your height. Pffft.
Levi: My mum had issues about your shitty temper.
Rei: As if yours is any better than mine? Hmm?
Levi: ... Whatever. My first meeting with Rei's parents were so weird. She told her mum about me, and her mum said she would keep it a secret from her dad.
Levi: A few weeks later, we were sitting by the stairs near her house when the lift door opened and her dad walked out of the lift while we were hugging. He told Rei that he would keep it a secret from her mum. But we did have a proper meeting. It was a dinner session.
Rei: The amount of mind blowing and deception though. It's funny. Thankfully my first meeting with Aunty Kuchel turned out well too.
Rei: It's really funny!!! It was my first time over at Levi's house, and uhhh, I came out of the toilet and I nearly walked into Aunty Kuchel. And then we just silently stared at each other for a while until she went, "Oh, so you're my son's girlfriend!"

Reiii! I love you for creating Self-Ship Sunday! Ugh writing these answers had me in the best mood all day! Thank you 🥲
1. Who wakes up first, you or Erwin?
-> He does. He’s just the best! He wakes up before me, and freshens up before waking me up with the sweetest kiss. It's annoying when he wakes up with the Sun on weekends too though. And he knows I like sleeping in. So, on weekends he just stays in bed and reads till I wake up and I get to cuddle up to him all morning!
2. Who takes longer to get ready in the morning?
-> Um. He does obviously. Have you seen his hair? That hairstyle takes much longer to create than you'd think. I tease him about being prim and proper all the time. He needs his hair to be set, his clothes to be creaseless and his shoes to be shiny. He sets out his clothes for the day on the previous night and spends a good amount of time steaming and ironing them. My mantra is to wake up and show up. We’re polar opposites that way!
3. What's a weekend with you and Erwin like?
-> Like I said, this man can’t stay asleep past 6:30 AM. When we were newly dating, the poor thing faced the demon residing inside this petite woman when he tried to wake me up early on a weekend - Hasn’t tried repeating it ever since. But he gets quite restless when he has nothing to do. So, I built him a mini library by our bed so that he can reach out and grab a book without having to get up.
We usually spend Saturdays outdoors; starting with a big brunch at our favorite café. We love visiting museums, art exhibits or a local farmer’s market. Sometimes we go kayaking out in the lake or hike through the trail nearby. We run some errands and then meet our friends (including you and Levi 😛) or family for dinner before calling it a day.
Sundays are lazy. We don’t leave the bed before noon. Once we do, we head straight to the kitchen to heat up leftovers from the previous night. He’s not much of a TV person, but I’ve gotten him into the habit of binge-watching anime with me in the afternoon. We spend the evening cooking dinner together and meal prepping for the coming week while listening to jazz. The best part is when he pulls me into a slow dance in our kitchen. And at night, after dinner, we love to take long, quiet walks by the lake.
And now, some questions for my fav couple (questions for both of you 😁)-
1. Is there a habit that your partner has that you find absolutely adorable?
2. What is your favorite dish that your partner cooks?
3. How dyu think your retired life would look when you’re finished with all your worldly responsibilities and finally retire?
Rei: Awww, Mia, you made it! Hehe, welcome to Levi and I's new place~
Levi: Tch. So you're the girl Erwin's gone bonkers over?
Rei: Levi, don't be mean. She's your best friend's partner, so shhh!
Rei: Oh my god Mia, Erwin's so sweet. He lets you sleep in? He stays in bed and read until you wake up??? That's so thoughtful of him!!!
Levi: You're making it sound like I force you to wake up early.
Rei: Pffft, you know I don't mean it, right? We both wake up at the same time anyway~ But for real!! Erwin's so sweet though!! I wonder what does he read to kill time while you are asleep? But I love how your weekends start late. Levi and I are such early risers lol. Our weekends are as packed as our weekdays.
Levi: Tch. I guess some habits never change.
Rei: Oh? You sound like you're speaking from experience.
Levi: Stupid blonde always takes hours to get ready. Imagine how long he hogs the showers every day. Thank heavens I'm an early riser. And thank goodness I no longer stay under one roof with him.
Rei: Putting those angsty feelings aside, Erwin sounds like a model student? I bet he was the class monitor when he was younger. Definitely part of the student council too.
Levi: He was. And a really annoying one too. Student council, top of the cohort, popular student, teacher's pet, blah blah blah.
Rei: Are you jealous?
Levi: Why should I be jealous?
Rei: Because... you're the opposite?
Levi: I was popular enough, you brat. You can ask Erwin. I wasn't as smart but I did well, at the very least.
Rei: I'm going to ask Aunty Kuchel for your report book and transcripts back when you were a student.
Levi: You little sh- no.
Rei: *sticks out tongue*
Rei: Wait whaatt?? You built him a mini library by the bedside??? Mia, I-I don't know man, Erwin is so lucky to have you in his life. That mini library idea is really cool.
Levi: I sense some hidden grievance there.
Rei: Nonsense. How can I have any unhappiness when I am with you? Anyway, stop distracting me, Levi!
Rei: But wait. We should have a sleep over. You. Me. Levi. Erwin. Or at the very least, we should go on occasional hikes together!!! Levi and I would love to bring our doggos along!!
Levi: I'm not hiking with Erwin around. He talks too much.
Rei: Levi... he's your best friend, why are you making it sound like you hate him? Mia, you need to get your man here soon.. lol they need to spend some quality bff time together.
Rei: But moving on!! Oh, I love the way you two spend the weekends!! It's so relaxing and chill. And I love the way you two slow dance to jazz in the kitchen, that's so romantic. Levi, learn from him, won't you?
Levi: Do I not serenade you into a dance?
Rei: I'm joking. Of course you do. We do that all the time too. Levi's a great dancer. His sense of rhythm is amazing. Took me only like... 10 minutes to teach him how to Waltz and he did it perfectly.
Levi: Tch. I'm a natural, and definitely better than Erwin.
Rei: And how do you know that?
Levi: Ask Erwin yourself.
Rei: And now, to answer your questions, Mia! Did you know, Levi has a cute habit of scrunching his nose when it's itchy? Usually we would scratch our nose when it's itchy right? But Levi scrunches his nose instead. He looks like one of our bunnies. So cute. Levi has a really cute sneeze too.
Levi: Oi. Stop using 'cute' to describe me.
Rei: But but but.. it is cute!!!! You are cu-
Levi: *squeezes Rei's cheeks mid-sentence* Shut it. Anyway. Silly girl here as a habit of folding chocolate wrappers into roses. Especially those from Ferrero Rocher. No fucking idea why she does it because it's so pointless, but I guess... it's adorable.
Rei: Moving on! Oh, I love this question. I'd like to think that I'm a good cook since I can cook both Asian and Western dishes hehe.
Levi: Meals with her are always good. I can't pinpoint an exact favourite. Maybe I'll choose one Asian dish and one Western dish. I need to think.
Rei: Then I'll go first! Levi is surprisingly good at making breakfast??? I don't know how to explain this. But, he makes really good breakfast! Like, I don't get it??? He makes me the perfect English Breakfast all the time. Oh, but disclaimer: my scrambled eggs and omelette are better than his, hehe.
Levi: Rei cooks really fantastic soups. Those you see served in ceramic pots. It's so flavourful and healthy. We don't even have to go to Chinese restaurants to drink them. What do you call them, double boiled soup?
Rei: Well, double boiling is just one of the many methods of preparing soup. I actually prefer using the slow cooker than double boiling it. But anyway! Levi loves drinking the ABC soup I cook - it's made with chicken, potatoes, carrots, and onions!
Levi: Oh and a Western dish? I'll go with French onion soup.
Rei: Another soup?
Levi: ... Any problem? I like soup.
Rei: Yes yes, point taken, Mr Levi Souperman...
Rei: Oh, what a question, Mia. We have... never thought of this...? Hmm.. I guess.. we would probably be enjoying our free time, watching our children and grandchildren grow?
Levi: That would make sense. We would be in our seventies and eighties, probably.
Rei: Maybe we could travel the world. You know, before walking becomes a problem.
Levi: I'll buy you a walking stick.
Rei: *giggles* I'll push your wheelchair, grandpa.
Levi: Why am I in a wheelchair?
Rei: Because you're older, so your legs are going to lose their function faster than me. And you have a bad knee and a once-broken ankle.
Levi: Tch, whatever. But there's something I would want to do. I want to... you know, maybe... ren- *inaudible*
Rei: Huh? Can't hear you.
Levi: I said, I want to renew our wedding vows. [Levi looks away with a blush on his face] Don't make me repeat myself.
Rei: *teary eyed* r-really? I would love that, Levi. [I took his hand in mine]
Levi: Yeah. And we'll be in our rocking chairs, hand in hand, watching our grandchildren play.
[A moment for the couple who can't stop staring at each other]
Rei: And when we die, our ghosts will roam around together too. Let's go haunt the descendants of our friends. We'll have them freak out and go screaming for Uncle Levi and Aunty Rei.
Helloo Mrs. Ackerman! The week went by quite quickly! I’ve been looking forward to Self-Ship Sunday since last Sunday haha!
Rei’s questions:
Quick Mia, pack your bags. Erwin is bringing you on a road trip for the weekend!!
1. Where do you think he is bringing you to?
-> Well, if it's just for the weekend, I’m guessing we’re headed to our cabin in the mountains. It's this cozy little weekend home that we built on the slope of a hill, overlooking the valley. I designed it myself 😊 We usually go there to unwind after a hectic week. There's no network, so the phones are off. There's a lake nearby where we go fishing and kayaking. (Yes, we love kayaking. We’re that couple which has their kayaks mounted above their car), and acres and acres of lush forest. We spend our days at the pretty little sit-out on the patio. There's obviously a lot of reading involved. Its calm and quiet, giving us some much-needed uninterrupted time with each other.
2. What songs will be in your road trip playlist?
-> Our travel songs are usually slow and breezy, just like our moods for the weekend - Usually something consisting of a lot of piano, or acoustic guitar. We love listening to instrumental music while traveling. Fortunately, our tastes in music are quite similar. So, we don’t bicker over what's playing.
3. Do you two take turns driving, or is there a designated driver?
-> He prefers driving – more like, I prefer not to. I love looking outside the window without having to focus on the road. But if he’s had a looooong day, I ask him to nap in the passenger seat while I do the honors. But he’s too nice. He still stays awake and keeps me company.
Now, some questions for you, m’lady and Levi. Playing along your vacay theme!
Have you and Levi been on many vacations together? Which was your favorite destination and why?
What are your holiday personas? (I.e., Do prefer staying in and relaxing, or spending all your time site-seeing, or is there a balance?) And do you have matching personalities or do they clash?
Which is a destination that you haven't been to yet, that you want to visit together?
Rei: Well hello there Mrs Smith, I hope you and Erwin have been well! I know you had a really tiring week so I hope you feel more relaxed now!
Levi: Tch. How can you feel more relaxed when you have a walking encyclopedia next to you talking non-stop?
Rei: Levi!!! SUSHHH don't be mean!!
Rei: Awww, that sounds so relaxing already!!! I wish Levi would build me a cabin in the woods *sobs*
Levi: Oi. I'm not a carpenter.
Rei: I'm kidding. But for real Mia, it's so cool that you built it on your own! Did Erwin help you with the designing too?
Rei: It must be great too, immersing yourselves in nature without distractions from your phone!! What do you two do other than kayaking, fishing, and reading?
Levi: What else? Probably lots of s-
Rei: LEVI!!!
Levi: What? It's the truth. What else will a man and a woman do on vacation? Play monopoly?
Levi: Tch. That sounds like Erwin. Luckily you and him share the same taste. He, Mike and I went on a road trip once, and Erwin was playing a playlist full of Tchaikovsky. Mike and I fell asleep.
Rei: We do enjoy listening to classical music too, but not for road trips hehe. We usually listen to pop, or rock!! We love singing along while driving!! Well, me actually. I love singing. Levi usually hums, but if it's one of his favourite songs, he'll sing along with me. Do you wanna tell them what you like singing to most, hmm?
Levi: No.
Rei: Aw come on, people would want to know.
Levi: But I don't wish to tell.
Rei: Aww Mia. Erwin's so sweet!! And so thoughtful. Levi usually drives too, but we will swop around occasionally!
Rei: Levi would drive during the day because the traffic is heavier. And in turn, I drive at night, also partly because Levi's astigmatism is pretty bad but he refuses to wear his spectacles at night. *eyes Levi angrily*
Levi: You prefer driving at night anyway. It's a win-win situation.
Levi: We haven't been to many countries actually. But we've been to Hong Kong a few times, and Taiwan too. We've also been to Vietnam. I like Taiwan. The bubble tea is nicer than the shitty ones here.
Rei: Yeah because the girls in Taiwan are cuter and prettier, right?
Levi: N-nonsense... [Levi looks away, rubbing his nose.]
Rei: You're stuttering *eyes Levi angrily again* hmph. I love Hong Kong. It's a familiar place. I love bargaining at the street markets like at Temple Street, Mong Kok etc. And as much as I hate it, bringing Levi along with me brings a lot of discounts too.
Levi: ... tch.
Rei: What? You don't even need to say anything and those aunties automatically lower the prices of clothing for us. Hmph.
Levi: And the trade-off is that they keep touching me. Yuck.
Rei: You're sacrificing a little cleanliness for the greater good. Look at how much haggling I avoided.
Rei: Well, it's a good thing that Levi and I both survive on very little sleep, and we are also early risers. So we're pretty similar! We're the type who would wake up at 4am just to go hike and view the sunrise.
Levi: We do a mix of both. In the day we will go out, like to sightsee or do touristy things. We stay in at night to relax. At most we'll go have dinner outside.
Rei: If we're not sightseeing, we would be eating, or shopping! Good thing Levi isn't a picky eater too. But he gets bored when I'm shopping.
Rei: Oh I really want to go to Japan and UK!!!! It's on my bucket list. I have to go there!!! Also, I want to go on a Europe tour!!!! I really want to go to France....
Levi: Oi, woman. I'm not made of money.
Rei: But you promised me a Europe tour for our honeymoon....
Levi: I didn't say no. I just said I'm not made of money.
Rei: Isn't that telling me 'no Europe tour'???? Well fine, at least bring me to France, won't you?? Hmm??? [I give Levi the best imitation I could of the sad puppy eye, and also tried to give him a little pout.]
Levi: ... stop whining and come here. [Levi gave me a hug and ruffled my hair.]
Levi: Fine let's go to France next time, when travel bans are lifted. But if my mum and uncle want to tag along, I can't stop them.
Rei: I'm not the one suffering, you're going to share a room with Uncle Kenny anyway~
[Levi had a look of horror plastered on his face].
My mint green summer dress flitted with the breeze as Erwin and I walked from the parking lot towards the lagoon. He wore an airy white shirt along with baby blue chinos and tan boats, a pleasant change from the three-piece suits that made up a majority of his wardrobe.
I tugged on my hat to shield my eyes from the bright rays of the sun, juggling between the picnic basket in my hand along with holding on to the leash of Cappuccino, our six-month old Corgi, as I trailed behind tall man.
My wide eyes were fixed on the flexing muscles of Erwin's arms when an excited Albus, our two-year old Golden retriever yanked on his leash. Even with the antics of our playful four-pawed baby, he effortlessly held on to a pair of lawn chairs in his other hand.
We chose a cool, shaded spot underneath a large oak tree to set up our things, unclasping the leashes of both the pups to let them play freely. It had a scenic view of the pristine water with many visitors leisurely kayaking through it, and cyclists riding their bikes on the trail that ran along it. I whistled mischievously when Erwin bent over to place the chairs on the ground.
“Behave, Mia.”, he tried speak with a stern voice, unable to hide the hue of pink dusting his cheeks. “We’re at the park.”
“That's not what you would have said a few years ago. You’re no fun anymore.”, I feigned annoyance, playing with the buttons of his shirt. “Plus, I don’t see a single child around.”
“But I do see a Levi around.”, I followed his gaze back to the parking lot where we just arrived from. “So, unless you want him to leave and take your precious Rei with him...”
“Nope!”, I bit my lip, pushing him away.
I happily waved at the two approaching figures, with their fur babies in tow. Levi simply nodded in acknowledgement with a faint smile as he walked with their lawn chairs, accompanied by a beaming Rei who waved back cheerfully.
She placed the picnic mat on the grass, enveloping me in a warm hug as Levi arranged their chairs next to ours. The men greeted each other in their usual way while the pooches grouped up in a jumpy heap.
“So good to see you again, Rei and Levi!”, I chirped. “How was your weekend? Did you two do anything interesting?”
It was another day to snack and hang out with the Smiths. The weather was absolutely perfect, and we hoped we prepared enough food. Dragging the dogs in tow, we had Hange come over to take care of the rabbits for us. Hange was more than pleased, they had the entire house to themselves, and Hange was probably looking forward to ransacking our kitchen for snacks.
As Levi parked the car and brought out the lawn chairs along with the picnic basket, I held on to the fur babies, hoping that Haruma, our six-year-old German Shepherd, wouldn't go crazy and start chasing after birds. Hitomi, our three-year-old Shiba Inu, was getting a little too excited too, barking non-stop towards the direction where Levi was headed. Hidemi, our two-year-old Maltese, was being the good girl as usual, wagging her tail as we approached the group.
Erwin and Mia had arrived before us, and they had already set up their chairs. Their two dogs were also freely running around. I unleashed Haruma, Hitomi, and Hidemi, and let them run wild.
"Hey Mia, Erwin, it's lovely to see you two again!" I smiled, lowering my shades and set up the mat, taking out the food we prepared. Levi and I made lots of sandwiches, cold pasta salad, cut fruits, and also some jelly. Levi also made some ice cold honey lemon that was perfect for the sunny weather. Mia asked us how our weekend went.
"Hmm, our weekend was kind of normal, I guess? I had my exam on Thursday and urgh, I don't wanna talk about it. I'm just so glad it's over," I rolled my eyes as Levi let out a tch and rolled his eyes too. I complained to Mia about how hard my exam was.
"We ordered a new bookshelf from IKEA and I was busy fixing it over the weekend. Not sure if you count that interesting," Levi added, pouring the drinks for all of us. "Rei was complaining we're running out of place to keep our console games."
"What about the both of you?" I asked, braiding my hair to keep it out of my face. "How did you two spend the week?"
