Yippie great news! Just got email that for the first ever international Smartfotofest (which celebrates smart phone photography) themed “Connections”. https://www.smartfotofest.com/#/winners/ I’m one of 30 photos that are selected from this competition that I had submitted to be exhibited in the upcoming Ireland exhibition at Dánlann Gallery at NUI Galway (National University of Ireland, West coast) on the ‪June 5-30, 2019‬. Too bad I didn’t win the top prize which is a Huawei P30 Pro. Oh well I will keep trying regardless. Wish I could be there to view the gallery in person and attend talks by industry ProPhotog in the field. Been to East coast of Ireland, Dublin many years ago but that was before I even started photography as a serious hobby. About my submitted photo which explores the absurdity of being so connected via wires hence the title “Wired”. It’s both a literal and metaphoric interpretation. Yes that was me “almost” naked and posed in the clutter of cables that connects to router and power, etc. In fact this photo was almost not in my submission as I only wanted to submit 15 photos and weeded out a lot that does not resonate with the theme, I thought this photo can be seen in many perspectives, has socio-psychological impact. Besides it’s the kind of conceptual photography that I feel might do well in such a competition. Every competition is almost a gamble as you never really know what the jury or judging panel are looking for or respond to. Though there are general traits as you study many previous winning photos and the descriptions etc. That is why I often submit to LensCulture competition and get portfolio review of my photography works. #SmartFotoFest #nuigalway #DánlannGallery (at Bugis Street) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxbrWB8Fq1T/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ixscnabgqd3a
