Confession: Aceâs Non-Binary Identity
Ace passes as a man and is aware of this. When he tells people that heâs transgender, they usually assume that heâs a transgender man. Though he actually identifies as non-binary, he usually doesnât correct the assumption. Ace uses he/him pronouns by choice, and his gender presentation is masculine, so he understands where the assumption comes from. Heâs not mad when people make this assumption and doesnât always feel the need to correct them either.Â
If he had to describe where he falls on the gender spectrum, he would say âsomewhere between man and neutral.â His family, friends, and ex-partners know this. While he has no objections to people knowing that heâs non-binary, he doesnât want to have to explain himself to everyone he meets. Additionally, people are generally more accepting of binary trans people than non-binary trans people. Sometimes, people assuming heâs a man is just easier.Â
