A deep panelled dado is a nineteenth-century characteristic. The heavily ornamented plaster ceiling is offset by the simplicity of the coia matting, and the lighting, which does not make any pretension to particular aesthetic.

The massive fireplace is such a dominant feature of this room that furnishings could easily be dwarfed. The resident, painter Comer Jennings, clipped magazines in pursuit of decorating ideas and developed his own harmony using local crafts.
