Did he scream with no voice? Did he close his eyes in fear as the light fell away? Or did he experience what perhaps Icarus felt, falling from grace and yet, in knowing it was his last moment, feeling free?

Have a quote from the fic I’m working on!
Destined to die together. Destined to share one last breath, one last glance, one last thought.
But despite that, there are still things that will make his skin crawl in an instant, will bring every dark thought back in full force, every memory so soaked in anger he only remembers them in shades of red.
It’s only now, in retrospect, that he understands how unhappy he was as a child. How anger and embarrassment became states of being rather than fleeting emotions.
heads up, seven up!

From the new post-canon TLOU fic I'm working on right now:
For as much as he was afraid of being a dad again, he now knows it’s one of the best choices he’s ever made. He loves having Ellie around, loves movie nights and shopping trips. He doesn’t even mind the times when she gets grumpy with him because he makes her eat vegetables and clean her room.
He loves most the moments like these, times when the quiet is soft and inviting, not dangerous like the nights of many years past. He loves the way the sun is warm against his side and how Ellie’s hair is soft beneath his fingers as he brushes a strand out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.
“Rise and shine, lazy ass.”
Ellie cracks her eyes open and lowers the blanket just so she can stick her tongue out at him.

Haven't done one of these in a while:
“How could you give up your own life so easily?” Joel asks, voice low. And he knows the answer, knows exactly what Ellie will say before she even opens her mouth.
“Because then it would’ve mattered!”
Haven't done one of these in a while. A quote!
Those who have the misfortune of being loved by Joel Miller suffer the consequences.
Mixing it up a little this time with a quote from the Requiem Evelyn/Mary fic I just posted:
The women weren’t witches. They were burned not because they committed some crime, some sin so great as murder. They were burned for daring to defy the men. They were burned for daring to voice opinions.
They were burned for being like her.
