Oh would you look at this big-ass advertisement on...
Well, you like using tumblr do you not? They have to have a way to make money to keep running the website so that we can keep using it. I will take large intrusive ads that are easy to scroll by over paying a subscription cost any day.
Okay Slex, letâs talk a bit here about marketing/profit.
As a company or someone who wishes to sell a product you must first assure yourself that it meets the requirements of the market. Who is the market? The consumers aka the PEOPLE.
Now, with this in mind, let me get to the next point.
No one is saying they shouldnât make money OR that they shouldnât advertise. Hell, no! They have every right to do it - after all, they are offering us some services. And this is the point. These services once again, may I remind you HAVE to meet peopleâs requirements or else you wouldnât be able to offer them in the first place, theyâd be nothing.
The point here is that Tumblr has always praised itself with non-intrusive user experience. What would that mean? Well first of all, smaller ads.
They already make shit loads of money because weâre here. Theyâd be nothing without us/our presence here. Even with subscriptions, they could very well put it at 1 dollar a month and theyâd still make shit loads of money because 1 and 1 makes 2 and so on, know what I mean?
Because for you itâs just one dollar, not much to spare, but multiply 1 dollar by millions of existing users PER MONTH.
If theyâd have this kind of subscription and still be insisting with these intrusive ads what do you think would happen if people threatened to leave? Would they still leave them or change them?
But because itâs free, theyâre also free to play with us however they want, despite promising initially a great experience, a website like no other, a social media platform like none you have seen until now and whatnot.
Slex, we might depend on them but they also depend on us. In order for them to still keep Tumblr around THEY NEED US, therefore, thatâs reason no. 1 why they should put their consumerâs needs FIRST. Because without a mass of consumers, they are nothing!
Once again, Iâm NOT saying they shouldnât do it - despite initially praising themselves not to do it ever if memory serves me well, like on the âother social media websitesâ, all Iâm saying is that they should do it in such a way that itâs LESS INTRUSIVE than what theyâre doing now. You know, like they actually like to state.
Donât get me wrong, I see what you mean also, but itâs a thing that companies shouldnât forget when they do things like these. Theyâre too liberal because people like you, whoâd rather take their shit than calling them out on it, when they are HIGHLY aware that there are other ways to do this as well.Â
You know, like they did it until now?
Because as I said, they need us. After all, we donât need them because social media websites are a lot out there and tomorrow is another day when a new one might rise.
So if they like to pretend to ârespectâ their consumers, well, then to hell, DO IT!
