The rule is to never, ever sleep with makeup on. I usually don’t, but I’ve been exhausted over the last few days. I came home after 3am last night and decided to “rest my eyes” before taking my makeup off. I put on pajamas and flossed. I rested my head on the pillow. I woke up at 10am. The light was still on. There are few rules in makeup. We never, ever sleep in it. Sleep is a time for restoration. Sleep is a time for our retinol, AHAs/BHAs, spot treatments, eye creams, glow-inducing serums, oils, toners, gel masks, moisturizers, and most importantly, moisturizers (say it twice) to sink into our skin and correct any issues. Makeup, no matter how “clean,” inherently blocks our pores. Sleeping in makeup can degrade our skin. But it’s also important to let things go and not be so harsh on yourself. I feel terrible about sleeping with makeup, but what’s done is done. I rarely sleep in makeup. My skin will not be destroyed by a simple mistake. Beauty Tip: When coming home late from a night out (makeup or not,) stay standing. Do not sit or lie down. Run to the bathroom, wash your hands (as you always should when returning indoors,) brush/floss, and cleanse your skin immediately. No waiting. #sleepmakeup #sleepingwithmakeupon #skincaretips #makeuprules #badmakeup #badskincare #sleepingmaskskincare #BBPskincare #BBPmakeup #blackskincare #skincarerules #redditskincareaddiction https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv9tds7F5rZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1c9cit6vsgosq
